okay. 3 projects DONE 1. new soul from Groovement up for ya'll to check out:
http://www.blindslim.com/groovement GREAT stuff. Definitely check this stuff out. You'll be hearing about all of these folks in 1 year. 2. FINALLY got Star69 re-mixed and ftp'd up to the site so it's now somebody else's fault that the NFO CD ain't ready! by the way, it's a totally new mix... much more house - dance, much less rock band. http://www.blindslim.com/...Star69.mp3 3. LASTLY, I finished this pair of songs that are paired - one segues into the other. They're both tunes that I've done before, but i wanted to put them together, and now that they're done, they're going on the demo and I'm now whoring the band out for any clubs that'll take us. Look for me at the nearest Wal Mart. http://www.blindslim.com/...comeon.mp3 WHOO. now if I could just catch up on them damn web sites I'm sposed to be working on. I only listened to the Star69 remix at this point. I'm not sure if I like this version better than the original. IMO the beat could be more fierce, more rough, more underground techno. But that's just my opinion of course. Love your guitarwork, you are really good, otan! RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

Ok, I'm getting ready for work here, but I wanted to listen and post.
The Star69 remix: I think the drums need to be louder and maybe what funkaholic said, HARDER. The cowbells were really cool in the previous version. IT'S A GREAT SONG, either way. I will listen more and listen to the other tracks too. :Peace: DAMN! Sometimes I wish we could all really meet, be in the same room and collaborate. I don't know why but I LOVE singing the "I can't, I can't" part.

Eeehhh - the harder thing - I dunno.
A: I suck at programming decent drum loops... I have no sense of placement. I can HEAR a drum loop that sounds awesome, and, in trying to re-create that loop, I'll lose all the things that make it great... as demonstrated here, I guess. B: I was going for a Jamiroquai discoteque kind of feel - not a techno NIN feel, does that make sense? If I go darker, I think the lyrics don't match with the music as well. But, you two make killer music too, so I definitely am interested to hear what it'll sound like. Thanks for the input. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

Like, have you heard Eric Benet? True to Myself. That kind of bass. Something just to fill in the bottom. IMO. It might be the mp3. That would make it more Jamiroquai-eee. I wasn't thinking as hard as NIN though.

OTAN-
Great job on these songs. I love the overall vibe of what you're doing. As good - Come on Baby - The drum sound needs something to make it sound a little bigger. It sounds a little flat compared to the rest of the intruments. I love the key change into the next song (beautiful segway) and is that you on the harmonica? Shit, if it is, you are the man, that solo was sweet. The re-mix of Star69 is sweet. Don't change a thing, you'll just fuck it up. Drums especially, it's part of the vibe of the song. Sometimes they seem a little Dance Club like but that's just because they're digital. Maybe run an effect on them? No, leave it all. Being a guitar player, I would like the solo to be more in your face but that's just me. I may have to get down to Atlanta to see you do these songs live.

Vina - the moog bass would be badass. I'm thinking about porting the whole project into ACID so I have more control over the layered loops, etc, instead of just running one thru the whole thing... and in there I can do the moog bass thing better. As it is, my recorder has 4 usable bass sounds and they're all too realistic to push the bass envelope... (and yet, not real enough when I want a real bass sound... sigh...)
The harmonica is my partner in crime, Pimpdog (www.flyfunk.com - that's him looking down, I'm the tall goober lookin dude)... he is the BEST harp player in town. I'm playing this Saturday at the Pride festival - so yeah, get on down here and show your Pride! they do mean, FUNK pride, right? I thought that's what it's for... FUNK pride, yeah? Thanks y'all! There's 3 different drum machines going at once on there... you'd THINK it would sound GOD like... Groove - I'll send YOU a CD for a change... Paisley - I don't know what the trip is. Try closing the window and hitting it again... maybe it's because millions are downloading the song all at once. yeah. that's it. I think it sounds best when you turn it up really loud, loud enough so the people working 10 desks away ask you if your brain is going to explode on those headphones... it really sounds great then. Of course, my co-workers are sick of hearing the song over and over again. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3
