Just sit back and play acoustic guitar, piano, drums?

Pull out the ol' pen and paper and write what's on your mind?

Or pull out an old canvas and paints?


The web is a very cool tool to bring a lot of creative mediums together, but do we loose site of the bare-bones / back bones of our creative outlets?


Tonight, I ask you all to pull out some paper and draw/write something about music and what it means to you and post it at your leasure.

I never write songs, i always create grooves. I wish I could write songs, but I find that very difficult...

I wrote this, because I thought it would be real interesting to see some actual hand written sheet music, drawings, paintings, or "scribbled on a napkin" lyrics worked into the site.

Kinda like that "Real Art by REAL artists" look to it.

If anyone wants to participate, just scan your peice and e-mail it to me and we'll work it into the site.

yes,I have done pieces just on acoustic piano,
without recording equipment,but I did small pieces
at a time so I could remember them until I had the
whoel song in my head.It could take a year before
actually recording them & then using other
equipment it would sound very different.

I do things on piano and acoustic all the time. But I like the chords but i never like the melodies. So i never record. I still need to colaborate to make cool things. My problem is always with the melody. I always come up with a good melody, but i can never evolve it to a greater thing.

I admit that my writing ability is far better than my musical talent. I mess around with the drums, I play with the keyboard and piano and I program beats and music loops with electronic equipment, I play a little bass, etc. But when it comes down to it, I am at my best when I am writing lyrics. Programming the music is simply a medium for my lyrics to be pasted to. My words influence the kind of music that I feel, and the music I make is a groove that is in me naturally, so it works.

But, for the most part, I am a writer and concept creator. Those are my best qualities, IMO.
