Help me write an ad

Hey guys, (Otan, I know you're great with words...)

I need some ideas. I want to find the perfect musical partner: someone who mainly programs trip-pop beats, plays guitar, has production/ recording skills and maybe can harmonize a bit with me. Maybe that's too much to ask out of one person, though.

Should I write separate ads for producer, drum programmer and guitarist?

What is your experience with runing ads to find musicians?

Running ads gets you the folks that read the papers. 1 out of 10 responses will be of SOME value, but usually I just get frustrated. You might do better putting ads up at music stores that sell related equipment - Guitar Center comes to mind. The musicians I found through a website... localmusic2.com.

Another option is to go to the sites that host trip-hop programmer types - maybe Acidplanet.com would be a good starting point. List artists that are similar to what you're looking for (like when I posted "DR FINK wanted for ATLANTA band...) a keyboardist into Prince will immediately know what I'm looking for, others wont.

Hey, thanks for those 2 links Otan!

I think I'm going to just track down people from college and high school and see what kind of connections I can make.

I always get into trouble when I try to make connections at high schools.

I mean get in touch with people I went to high school with. I went to a performing arts high school and I ran into this guy from my AP Harmony class about 3 years ago. Maybe his email still works. I've got business cards and things saved.
