Move-JD remix (Rough mix)

Here is a VERY rough version of my Move-JD remix for the NFO. I wanted to make sure there would be no more obstacles, so I just put down a rough vocal and mixed it all down, just to make sure my computer could handle it all.

Well, here it is!

Let me know what you guys think. I realize there are a few mixing issues, but you get the jist of the new arrangement and you finally get to hear what Jason's drums sound like with my song!

Peace.

You can, Dre! I will give you one to work with soon. I've just been working on this on my own, with beats that Jason created for me a long time ago. Long story, but they weren't exactly in sync with my music, probably due to the transfering from mp3 to wave so I could load them into cakewalk.

It's been a long time coming.

Hey, young lady.

Do you want to replace what is on newfunkorder.com with this one?

Not yet, this is very rough. I just wanted to make sure I could mix it all down on the pooter and it wouldn't give me any lip. Now that I know it works, I can polish it some more and get it done by this weekend.

My home recording experience has gone from crash to boff

Vina-

I love the drums andI love this song. The only thing is I love your voice and it's being hidden by the mix. Bring it to the front so we can hear it, Shirley, I mean Vina.

lol

mr.green

I know, I think the base drums and baseline need to be lowered when I'm singing. I just wanted to put this mix up so you guys could finally hear something. (I've been talking about this for so long)

The drums are a combination of JD's loops that he sent me (his song Sheep has a very similar beat) and some of my old elements, like the reverse snare and the cowbell. I'm dying to hear what JD thinks of this!!! (well, not dying, but you know...)

Thanks for the feedback. hug
Peace.

LOL, I just sent you an orgnote to see if you'd heard it yet. Cool! I'm so glad you like it. I will get it done this week, now that I know I wont have any technical difficulties, I'm so jazzed to work on it! All the trials and tribulations were getting me down, but I finally conquered it! I'm glad I didn't give up, but man, my computer was driving me CRAZY.

of course it's good! The low volume (I know you want to turn it up) makes it VERY much like, uhh, "Automatic" where the girls vocals are audible but buried.

One thing I notice on a lot of nfo/orger singers is the isolated vocals. It's very hard to get the vocals to sound like they're part of the song - in your case - the echo on the vocals makes it sound like you're in a separate room from the rest of the song.

It's something I wrestle with ALL the time on my songs.

If you ran them through a stereo chorus, just slightly (I always heard, add the effect until you HEAR it, and then roll the amount back a little bit) then your vocals would become part of the song, instead of sounding like they were sung OVER the song. If that makes sense.

confuse

I doubled the vocal, and added the reverb to only one of the tracks. Maybe I should turn up the track that doesn't have effects? I know what you mean about it being hard to make the vocals sound like they are part of the song. It always sounds like Kareoke at first.

Oh - maybe that's the echo I'm hearing... they're in mono so there's no space to it, whereas all the other instruments are in stereo.

Ohhh, well, my sound card doesn't have XLR inputs and my mic chord doesn't work that way anyway. So I have to use only one input for the vocal. Maybe if I pan the tracks. Damn, that's ghetto, huh.

That's weird, remember Vina, about 3 months ago I said that about you when we talked- I thought this beat would make you sound even more that way. And by the way, it is a compliment!

Oh yeah, I know. Coool, you got my back. Some people don't like Jill and Vanity, so I wasn't sure if Otan meant it as a compliment. I know you like them. I LOVE Jill. She's got an amazing voice. I'm glad I inspired you to give me a good beat!

See, you can't please everybody. I think I'm going to lower the reverbed track and bring up the plain one. It's all a learning process, and I appreciate everyone's input.
