Prince on Guitar, if you can play!

For those of you who know how to play guitar.

Do you enjoy playing Prince songs and if so what is fun to play?

'The Cross' for absolute beginners? Sure.
'When you were mine' for progression? Fun.
The solo in 'The Question of U'? Great!
'SISI. April'? Pretty Boring if yo can't sing.

But besides that, what is playable at home without a band?

I like to play at home without a band. let me see..
The Truth, Purple Rain, it's cool to put an extended live version of purple rain and improvise over it. I like it.
i don't know, any guitar oriented song is cool to play.

I won't play with a band, cause nobody digs him. Just me.

The Other Side Of The Pillow on solo acoustic guitar with some blues improvising thrown in can be fun.

same here sort of. All the bands Ive been in have been great fun but on the whole not musically inspiring. I know if I could find a band that digs real music like Prince, I'd be a lot happier

my band, besides our own songs, only plays hard rock songs. Nothing funky. The guys knows and love peach and endorphinemachine, but i don't want play it, nobody knows these songs. So i will keep playing" welcome to the jungle" and and "I remember you" with them. kk :p
at least It's funny

Y'know, it's the same with me. Just can't find people into the funk like me. I guess I'll just have to record it by self.

Fuck 'Em if they can't take the funk. title of my first song

- I always play Kiss as a warm up and to test my amp and effect set-up, as well as some licks from Sign "O"the Times and Alphabet Street, before rehearsals.

- For metronome practice, I often play the rhythm parts from controversy and superfunkycaligragisexy.

I'm very lucky...my drummer and I go way back together and I turned him on to Prince's music. Hence, we still play his stuff live today.

Currently, we play Bambi, 5 Women, and ICNTTPOYM. It's a blast to play those tunes live. Who cares what people recognize...it's good music.

I had the same problem with my former bands, I was the only one into Prince and funk music. In the end that's why I quit with these bands.

Now I just work alone or with my funkbuddy Ingmar. Or with some friends of mine that are not musicians but like good (electronic) music anyway...
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...
