all the best people have gone home (original production)

hi all

some of my favourite songwriters died over just a few years
Princes death was the biggest upset

(after failing at trying to cover sometimes it snows in April)
(I also remember enjoying repeated listens to Don't try to tell me, by Wendy & Lisa)
I started wrting this song
after finishing it I played it live only very times.
It was difficult to play and soon i dropped it from the stage set.
I still like it though

The lyrics:

All The Best People

all the best
people have gone home
when i go
i'll not return, oh no
well i guess, I'm next, the hereafter-show
all the best people have gone home

a change of
scenery doesn't hurt
it's all about,
perspective makes things work (work it out)
like a jealous wind, where am i to begin?
a change of scenery doesn't hurt

i've made mistakes, one made me think twice
should i die today, would tomorrow be alright?

all the best people have gone home

there's no need
to enter like a thief
show me your
hunger, show me your greed
take some more, take anything you want from me
there's no need for you to enter like a thief

i‘ve made mistakes, one made me think twice
if i die today will tomorrow be alright?
it's a quiet place, in death as in life
would it be okay if i turn out the lights?

all the best people have gone home

small circles, big wheels!
I've got a pretty firm grip on the obvious!

dreamfirstborn

it's an interesting song.

sad

it's almost like you are

on your death bed

and are execpting death

you are ready to go

understanding your perspective

and knowing where you are going

and convincing yourself

that it will be painless

who are you asking permission

when you ask "will tomorrow be ok?"

is that yourself?

realizing that

you do have to be a theif

to come and go

forgiveness

is on your mind

for past transgression

so sad to turn out the light

i can hear to sorrow in your voice

i think you died at the end

or simply

went away.

-Jew DreamFirstBorn

coming to you live from Paisley Park

prince is here

hi

I think your obsevations are fairly accurate

the begining 1st verse
is acceptance. death seems imminent

then 2nd verse, 2nd thoughts and regret

then 3rd verse, there's rejection and a desire to live

yes, in the end I went the way of all flesh and like my predecessors, I went home

small circles, big wheels!
I've got a pretty firm grip on the obvious!
