Making the transition

I'm a guitar player and I'm about to buy myself a bass guitar.

In theory I should find it pretty easy, as the scales are the same but obviously there are 2 less strings.

Any of you more accomplished musicians find the transition from your first instrument to your second/third easy or hard? I'd like to hear your comments biggrin

Lose the pick. Learn to play with your fingers. Not loud enough? Turn up the volume, and control the volume with your fingers - you'll get much more power in your playing.

Bass involves more 'string control' really. It seems at first like the strings have a mind of their own but you'll get there. I also agree with Otan, play without the pick & use fingers & or thumbs
