How did people enjoy this episode? It was terrific to hear the anecdotes about Miles and Prince, but it felt, to me, like it fell a little flat as the final episode celebrating the release of the SDE. As always, with Prince, after 8 episodes, I still have loads of unanswered questions...perhaps that's some of the appeal of the man?

I've not listened yet, but I'm still half way through ep7 (getting a bit bored of it), I think 6 episodes would of been enough!

Maybe I'm just humor-impaired, but for a man who had the musical chops (and comedy chops, for that matter) to represent the biggest of big leagues, this stuff seemed beneath him.

Why bother with these elaborate, trash-talking-style, practical jokes? I know he loved them, and he pulled them on a bunch of musicians. Respect that this was what he loved. To each his own.

But from my own weird woman perspective, it's odd. He could always get people laughing. Crying-hard laughing.

His music spoke for itself. Why put that vibe on stage?

Did love hearing about P's playful side, including how he told the band he had a surprise for them, but didn't let on that Miles Davis might join them on stage.

The stories of how band members realized just what was up were so great.

Loved this story from Levi Seacer:

"So, you know, we're at rehearsal and like, "Whoa, wow, I wonder when [Prince is] going to tell us what's going on." Because we were just kind of sitting around, and I'm like doodling on the piano and my spider sense — I said, "Somebody's sitting next to me who I don't know." I turned, and it was Miles Davis. So you have to imagine that. So he's been an icon to every musician on the planet in one way or the other. And he's right next to me and he's talking to me like we been knowing each other 30 years: "Did you know there are no bad keys on the piano? There are no bad notes; did you know that?" And he's using some other colorful words that I can't say right now. And I'm like, "I didn't know that, Miles," and he says, "Keep playing." So he's playing this solo, but to me it sounds a little out of key but he said, "Wait, don't make that face. It's not out of key! I know what I'm doing." I said, "Of course you know what you're doing." And then he was explaining to me how nothing is wrong in music; it just depends on if you let the audience know it. (laughs) He said sometimes he'll play a note that's so irritating to people, he'll play it until they like it."

...because, Prince was competitive and better! Imagine Prince seeing all these white guys getting top billing as guitarists when Prince could do what we all know he could do. He was human!

As for the series, oh yes, loved it. Andrea did a fine job. I do think 2 episodes were flat (7 for sure) but the reset was superb. I think they could have used more musical clips and stories about them or possibly to show how incredible his talent was that he could do Walk in Glory, All My Dreams, Large Room and then shelve it all b/c he'd moved onto something else.

However, it was a fantastic series.

Totally get what you're saying about Prince being human and what Prince was capable of musically. It makes me think of his comment about how he could do the U2 stuff, but U2 could not do a lot of what he could do.

The podcast connected the comment about Bruce with one of those practical jokes up on stage...with those jokes that used band cues to try to make the guest musician appear lost, inept, and foolish.

The podcast was describing Prince targeting Miles with one of these jokes during the Paisley New Years Eve show.

Just curious. Why do you think Prince did that to Miles?

I recall clearly when Prine was quoted as as sayinig 'I can do that (U2 music), but they will not do 'Housequake'. NOw that we're aware of how much he did at the time..it is crazy how correct he was. I mean, that he could do a song like Walk IN Glory and put it on the shelf while U2 puts out Joshua Tree and get rewarded with Album of the Year??? cOme on..

I think Eric or Alan Leeds answers that in the podcast - there wasn't enough room for the two egos on stage.

I am hearing Miko and Sheila declined or didn't respond to participate. No idea bout Wally and Greg.

Alan Leeds was wrong about Prince sabootaging Bruce Springsteen.

There is a audio of Baby Im A Star live 1985 L.A. and around 7th minute Prince says :Bruce play something. Bruce Springsteen played a 1 minute long bluesy funky guitar solo and after 1 minute Prince said :Everybody stop on the 1.

What Bruce played was totally fine so i don't understand why Prince said what he said about Bruce.
