SOTT podcast final episode...The Miles Davis Experience. How did people enjoy this episode? It was terrific to hear the anecdotes about Miles and Prince, but it felt, to me, like it fell a little flat as the final episode celebrating the release of the SDE. As always, with Prince, after 8 episodes, I still have loads of unanswered questions...perhaps that's some of the appeal of the man?

I've not listened yet, but I'm still half way through ep7 (getting a bit bored of it), I think 6 episodes would of been enough!

I don't have any complaints. The whole series was an enjoyable listen, but I probably won't go back to it unlike some of Michael Dean's interviews over the years. I agree the last couple of episodes were a bit flat while understanding they were trying to present a chronological narrative. They perhaps sacrificed depth in order to tell a wide ranging story. Still, I was happy to go along for the ride. - Personally, I'd like to hear more about the songs and the creative process. I suppose Prince himself is the only person who could have done that. And that never would have happened. I don't need to hear about the studio errors or the band members ignoring Prince while Miles was on stage one more time, but I appreciate there will always be people listening for whom those kinds of details will be revelatory. What I want, new insights into his song craft, I'll have to find in the work of Zachary Hopkins, Duane Tudahl, Arthur Turnbull and their like.

This one was great! Informative and enjoyable. I loved how they all imitated Miles voice. I will never understand the complaints of the series. It was nice to hear from the former band members and associates.

...because, Prince was competitive and better! Imagine Prince seeing all these white guys getting top billing as guitarists when Prince could do what we all know he could do. He was human!
As for the series, oh yes, loved it. Andrea did a fine job. I do think 2 episodes were flat (7 for sure) but the reset was superb. I think they could have used more musical clips and stories about them or possibly to show how incredible his talent was that he could do Walk in Glory, All My Dreams, Large Room and then shelve it all b/c he'd moved onto something else.
However, it was a fantastic series.

I recall clearly when Prine was quoted as as sayinig 'I can do that (U2 music), but they will not do 'Housequake'. NOw that we're aware of how much he did at the time..it is crazy how correct he was. I mean, that he could do a song like Walk IN Glory and put it on the shelf while U2 puts out Joshua Tree and get rewarded with Album of the Year??? cOme on..

I think Eric or Alan Leeds answers that in the podcast - there wasn't enough room for the two egos on stage.

I binged the last few episodes this afternoon. I got disillusioned after the Lisa/Wendy/Susannah mini-podcast gripe/snoozefest and stopped listening for awhile. Four episodes seemed to be stretching things a bit. Having Cat and Levi be a part of Episode 6 was great and made me hopeful again. Levi's humility and Cat's gratitude for being a part of it all was refreshing. I wish they had gotten Miko, Sheila, Wally, Greg, and some of the others to speak on their experiences.

I am hearing Miko and Sheila declined or didn't respond to participate. No idea bout Wally and Greg.

Alan Leeds was wrong about Prince sabootaging Bruce Springsteen. There is a audio of Baby Im A Star live 1985 L.A. and around 7th minute Prince says :Bruce play something. Bruce Springsteen played a 1 minute long bluesy funky guitar solo and after 1 minute Prince said :Everybody stop on the 1. What Bruce played was totally fine so i don't understand why Prince said what he said about Bruce.
