It's a Miles Davis thang !

-

I wonder how well Miles Davis is known amongst the younger (-35yo fans) here ?

I'm sure every heard about him, that's not what I'm trying to say.

One has to be able to understand how important Miles Davis was back in 1987,

and how most musicians looked up at him.

This last episode was to be expected. And I love it !

I love to hear Alan Leeds talk. Hell I love both the Leeds brothers for their clear and accurate stories.

-

Just found out that Alan Leeds wrote and just published a book about his time with James Brown.

Really want to read that.

Also, Eric Leeds said somewhere in a podcast that his brothers was about to release (another?) a book, concerning Prince. I could be wrong as my memory gets old (lol)

Anybody knows something about this ? Or is it just a brief mention of Prince in this JB book ?

-

Still love these inside stories that give so much more understanding to the whole concept what Prince really was. And I wasn't aware that actual NYE concert was the very first before an audience in PP.

Apparently Kool & The Gang were the first band to rehearse (or play) on that stage after the complex opened it's business on September 11, '87.

(Did he ever worked with them? I'm sure there still is so much other stuff to discover from that vault alone...)

This series is a perfect example of what late 1986 - 1987 felt like. A flurry of excitment rumors and creativity. Tons of new music, new band! new clothes, new sounds and yet by October, Prince was bored with SOTT. Didnt want to tour. Wanted to put out the Black Album to prove something I guess and play with his new toys at Paisely Park.

Then in December (I think) he has his bad acid trip, met Ingrid and moved on to LoveSexy and that was the end of SOTT era. all of, what?, 10 months? Kinda of a let down.

You can argue that he kept a consistent sound and astheticfrom 81-85. Here the transition from SOTT to LS was so abrupt and occured in literally a few months. if you blinked you missed it.

At least we have these two concert videos an this incredible SDE set.

Coulc not agree more.

-

What is the Lovesexy SDE going to bring us, once it is released ?

Just imagine. :-O

I think thàt will be an awesome one - my favourite at least.

He also did that one in a short amount of time.

Who actually could keep up with Prince ?

Even thos ein his camp were lost, as we hear more and more now all these incredible podcasts.

There are more and longer, more deeper podcasts out there, and I devour them all with great pleasure.

Certainly those with Eric Leeds and W&L, ànd Susan rogers even more so.

I don't understand the question can I play with you when followed by"end of journey". I agree with Enjoy everyone.
Great! Another link 🤣. Please indicate if you are seeking a response or interaction on the art19.com site or if you are bouncing back and forth between your post on some other site and this thread, in fact anyone who posts a link should be required to prefer to state that, otherwise it drops off quick.

What does the prince.org tapestry look like if they measured it like a clothing closet? Could we clothe everyone? Why does that word look weird cloth clothe, that's probably why Prince wished we all were nude because of words.
Welcome to "the org", heartpeacesheart…
