Prince: The Story of 1999 bonus feature: an interview with Robert Hilburn

-

Don't know if it was already mentioned here, but there's a very good interview with Robert Hilburn, who was the only person who interviewed Prince and recorded that on tape in 1982 for The Current :

-

It also has a some interesting views on why Prince later on stopped giving interviews.

For those intersted, find that article on that 1982 interview here :

This article is not viewable for all. (I think only for the USA).

.

Nowhere does the article claim that it was the "only interview ever to be taped" – it only claims that it was the last one. Which isn't true either, btw, as he's given plenty of interviews in front of cameras, and technically all of those are taped too.

Of course he did interviews years after that, and they indeed were put on vivdeo.

And therefor more correctly would be like it's stated :

-

"In 1982, Prince released 1999, and the Los Angeles Times' music critic Robert Hilburn was the only journalist to interview Prince about the album. In fact, Prince would not grant interviews to journalists again for several years after that, making Hilburn (whose article published on Nov. 21, 1982) one of the last to speak to Prince before a lengthy period of silence from the artist."

-

They talked for almost two hours, and it was taped.

Would love to hear this interview... anyone knows if it's out there ?

The other three supposed interviews that had to happen after that, never occured.
