Don't know if it was already mentioned here, but there's a very good interview with Robert Hilburn, who was the only person who interviewed Prince and recorded that on tape in 1982 for The Current :

Nowhere does the article claim that it was the "only interview ever to be taped" – it only claims that it was the last one. Which isn't true either, btw, as he's given plenty of interviews in front of cameras, and technically all of those are taped too.

Of course he did interviews years after that, and they indeed were put on vivdeo.

And therefor more correctly would be like it's stated :

In fact, Prince would not grant interviews to journalists again for several years after that, making Hilburn (whose article published on Nov. 21, 1982) one of the last to speak to Prince before a lengthy period of silence from the artist."
