Hey all, we're back with more UNCOVERING PRINCE! In the Purple Hot Seat today we're talking to the legendary keyboard player Morris Hayes from The New Power Generation, one of the LONGEST SERVING members of Prince's band, working with Prince from 1993-2012 and now continuing to celebrate Prince by touring worldwide with The NPG.
There's a huge amount of ground to cover, so we're doing something new and bringing you this interview in stages so you don't get overwhelmed!
In Part 1, we cover :
- How Morris moved to Minneapolis to join MAZARATI - What happened to the second Mazarati album and how MICHAEL JACKSON had a role in their downfall? - How he went from being in Mazarati to being in THE TIME - Going from The Time to Carmen Electra's band, and why Carmen was dropped from the DIAMONDS & PEARLS tour - How he went from Carmen's band to being asked by Prince to join The NPG (and how Prince was told Morris said yes before he'd even been asked!!!!)
We managed to catch up with Morris in the hotel bar during The NPG's recent show in London, so apologies for a bit of background noise, but we hope you enjoy Part 1 of this DEEP FUNK DIVE into the Purple World!
Make sure you subscribe so you don't miss the next part of the interview, COMING SOON (as well as all of our other awesome videos!)
