What P song would you pick for a P Tribute?

This is an idea I just got from the Prince Tribute thread that's going.

Now that we've heard songs from the NFO members, I would be interested to hear what song would each of you pick, if asked to do a Prince tribute, and how would you cover it?

Now, for these purposes, it doesn't matter how many of you wanted to cover "Wedding Feast", this is just elementary... What Prince song WOULD you pick, and what kind of treatment would you give it?

Me? Life Can Be So Nice... I would take that and turn it into Living Colour/Black Crowes thing. Really rock it out.

What about you?

"Purple Rain" -- I'd turn it into a Symphony of sorts and add some extra-cool spiritual lyrics with new-agey-type vocal ornamentations, in addition to many classical instruments, some of them foreign and strange.

Thanks Otan for your kind words about 17jours.And thanks for this contribution here. It's sure that if I create this tribute, it's because I think it's a way to discover others musicians with the same feeling.

I'm so very curious by the choice of each cover. When I received the link sent by Hutch (count the days) I was like a child ! The download was very long !! I wanted fast as possible to listen it !
And I'm a little desapointed this week end to not have another contribution...But I participated to a tribute here in France for a french musician (Telephone Guitarist/Bertignac).And most part of the contributions arrived just the week before the limit date ! smile
It's why I decided to burn the CD in the order of date contribution.
(for your information we know formaly that Bertignac received the CD and listened it www.bertignac.com)

I think the firsts contributions are very important. They give the level of work and the desire for the others musicians to do the same.

To Ufo: if you want me to add your cover made 4 years ago for the tribute I can .Send me (not the file) the mp3 link at phil.axel@philaxel.com

thanks

I plan to remake the bootleg "Go" sometime soon. It is a very engagin and beautiful sounding tune, although i hav 2 make up sum lyrics because the version i hav sounds like a backstage recordin.

I would keep it the same, using a vocal decoder as a way 2 be Wendy & Lisa's vocals inm the background.

Man, that would be cool! That's one of his best songs, and Living Colour ROCKS!!! I love them. I can totally hear Corey singing "Life... can be so nice...Wonderful world... of paradise...Kiss me once, kiss me twice..."

They did a remake of 17days, have you heard it? It's a little punk/thrash. I like their version of "Should I Stay or Should I Go", but anyway... off on a tangent there.

What song would I do? Geez, I don't know. I like singing Sign peace the Times. I have a sort of harmony that I sing along to it. I've always wanted to do an acoustic version of Alphabet St. Just me on my Ashiko drum, my friend on guitar and both of us singing. Yeah...Yeah...Yeah...Yeaaahhh!

Great question.

Well, I would record a version of "Something In The Water Does Not Compute" but I would not release it anywhere, just for enjoyment.
