This interview is very interesting, but there is just one little thing that kind of bugs me

Didn't Joni say she remembered seeing him at one of her concerts when he was around 15 yo? I realize I get my timelines wrong so I can't say for sure but that's how I remember it. Did Lisa meet Prince when he was 15?

Nope, I wasn't mistaken.
But even when you were somewhat obscure, so many musicians were citing you as an influence or even name-checking you in songs. Of all the musicians and rappers who have cited you as an influence, whose work do you appreciate most?
Prince. Prince attended one of my concerts in Minnesota. I remember seeing him sitting in the front row when he was very young. He must have been about 15. He was in an aisle seat and he had unusually big eyes. He watched the whole show with his collar up, looking side to side. You couldn’t miss him—he was a little Prince-ling. [Laughs.] Prince used to write me fan mail with all of the U’s and hearts that way that he writes. And the office took it as mail from the lunatic fringe and just tossed it! [Laughs.]

That was very interesting.
Vanity leaving, his obsession with finishing every song.
I would like someone to talk more on how it was going from a poor kid to a multi millionaire Star at such a young age. I thankful Prince had Susannah, Wendy, and Lisa around to keep him grounded.

A whole lot more revisionist history in this interview. Besides the Joni Mitchell bit, another "fib" she tells is when she says she and Prince were at their peak in terms of being in love during the Under the Cherry Moon movie production, yet it's documented in Alex Hahn's book that Prince had Alan Leed fly her back to the US while he was chasing French tail in Nice.

.

According to Leeds, Prince told him to fly Susannah back to his Minneapolis home the day they landed in Nice for Under the Cherry Moon preproduction. Prince also told Leeds, "I don't want her going to LA and crying on Wendy and Lisa's shoulders."

.

Edited to ask how the hell did Susannah and Prince watch "In Living Color" on TV (the 45-minute mark in the interview when "In Living Color" debuted in 1990 and she and Prince broke up in 1986. According to Karen Krattiger, Prince told her to stick Susannah in an apartment after he kicked her out of his home in the fall of 1986 after only a few months of living with her.

.

By 1990 when "In Living Color" debuted, Prince was already dating Kim Bassanger, among others, and he met Mayte in July 1990 so Susanah is full of shit. She's desperate rewrite her role while being nothing more than one of a long line of women that Prince was infatuated with for a bit, then returned for a newer, younger model (model being figuratively and literally).

How are you gonna note that? You should look into what his assistant Karen Krattinger said about how shitty he treated Susannah. Weeks before Prince and his entourage (Alan Leeds, Susannah, Gilbert Davidson, and a couple others touched down in France, Prince gave her a ring. He didn't verbally propose to her, but she took the diamond ring as a proposal -- what girl wouldn't at that stage in any relationship. It's probably fair to say she thought that because she had the ring, and she was going to be spending an extensive amount of time in Nice with him, he was gearing towards a more monogamous relationship than before.

.

I will give Susannah credit for one thing though, and one thing only -- she knows how to suck up all the pain Prince caused her, and now, in 2018 she can tell a pretty romantic tale about how great he was to her.

You do know he never stopped being friends with her right?

.

Just because he sent her to Minni for a while didn't mean she didn't come back...the earliest drafts of the movie she was working with Prince on it

.

And somewhere in 1994-1996 he wrote a ballet and sent her info about it, telling her to write him back -love you

I'm not sure if you've listened to the whole interview yet, but there's just a lot of conflicting times, dates, and other various facts in it. I could be wrong, but I'm just going off verified interviews from sources like Leeds and Krattiger in Hahn's book and comparing them to what Susannah is saying on the podcast. It sounds like, from all accounts after their Fall '86 breakup, he kept Susannah in his back pocket for a while when he needed someone to reach out to, but this interview also highlights some things that veer off into her alternate universe.

.
The whole point is, all these Revolution-era Chatty Cathys who can't turn down an opportunity to talk about the good old Purple Rain through Parade years are tarnishing Prince's memory. There was a reason why he liked to wrap himself up around mystery, yet people like Susannah, Shelia E, and Brown Mark are talking out of school, hoping to claim a little more of the glory days than they deserve.

Well they actually broke up mid Decemeber 2016

They continued to be friends through his full life

Krattiger was friends with her, and anyone can get dates and times mixed up

Alan said Eric was the first use of sax on Prince music...as he recalled at the time.
But it was the guy who played sax on Glamorous Life(and probably the studio vrs of G-Spot)

Followed by Eddie M on Around the World in a Day

eh I don't think any of them are tarnishing Prince's legacy(memory)

.

fans are up in arms about the 1/2 time Tribute piece still

Did you listen to the interview? The last time they talked he was angry with her about the Family mess. She said he did reach out to her two weeks before he passed to write songs ( remember she borrowed money from him) I suspect the writing was to get her some income.

She did say that she was in class as she is working on a degree. Which makes me wonder if the promissory note was for her education. Remember Prince helped Troy Beyer go to school.

I think she was a little fuzzy on some dates but all in all I thought she was truthful. I now know she is trying to get a career going and that Prince was trying to help her. So I see her a little differently then before.

I wish her the best of luck and I do feel for her because I think she did care for him but he was a hard man to love.

I do not believe her when she said he left home at 12 because he wanted to and no abuse took place. I do not think she believes it either.

Don't pay any attention to people on this board. Prince was good to this women and when he was done he was done. They all knew about the others and they put up with it. He had something to get them to say around. He had a harem and he was not forcing anyone to be in it.

Sheile E even refered to the other women as his harem.
