Do the fans/ community approve of P song covers? I make song covers of pop artists as a hobby. I plan and create Prince songs on GarageBand, an iPad app, then upload them on Soundcloud and Youtube.
Surprisingly, I receive hundreds, even thousands, of plays for the P songs and the comments are generally positive. I still get the odd negative comment where someone will say "I don't want covers. I want Prince" or "What the f*** is this?" I don't know if Prince fans are happy to hear covers or they are protective of the music like Prince himself was? [Edited 1/2/18 2:36am] |

Some naughty fans believe they're entitled to tell musicians whether they're allowed to cover P's songs or not. So yeah, you're sure to get some shit from those . While I don't necessarily fancy Prince covers save the occasional gem (and there's been some!), I don't mind people doing them, it's a free world and it's not my place to criticize fellow artists.
