The woman behind Little Red Corvette Speaks!

This was a good interview and I am looking forward to her book. The hints she dropped about abuse kind of got to me a little bit. Especially when mentioned how they had so much in commone with bullying, busing and inter-racial discrimination.

I am amazed that so many people are taking this woman seriously. Didn't Prince say that "Little Red Corvette" was about Vanity? Why did we never hear of Mi Ling while Prince was alive? Sheesh.

If you listen to the interview she talks about the vanity controversy.

Yeah, people talk about dark skinned discrimination within the black community but not light skinned discrimination. I've always wondered if prince was ever discriminated against because of his hazel eyes and lighter complexion.

Listen to the interview. She even interviewed Vanity about it and her interview is going to be in the book. She also obtained this info from T.C Ellis who said Prince told him he wrote the song about her and she claims he actually made reference to her rear end being as smooth as a limosine.

Claims she has other documentation to back up what she is saying. I find any info about his pre-fame years to be interesting and I am glad many of his childhood associates are speaking.

This is a side of his life that has been sweep under the rug for too long.

I think when it comes out I might see if we can do a book club. From what she is saying this we be about the Minneapolis music scene and their relationship. She met him right when his carreer was starting so it should be interesting.

I've heard that he supposedly met her in 1976 and again in 1979, when they reportedly began dating, supposedly until she left town in 1980. He didn't release "Little Red Corvette" until late 1982, shortly after meeting Denise. I mean, if it's really about this woman and with him being so "in the moment," what took him so long?

I just always go back to this question: Why didn't she write this exposé while P was alive? Oh, and according to Prince Vault, she thinks "Sexy Dancer" might also be about her. SMH.

Listen to the interview she explains the question as to why she didn't write the book when he was alive.

If it's her story, that's what it is (from her point of view). Let's be real, if these books came out when P was alive, some fans would still be bitching unless Prince wrote the foreword, toured the country promoting it, and recorded the Kindle audio version himself. It's a very intriguing story, nonetheless and I might check it out. On another note, Prince wrote a lot of songs about a lot of women lol. Many revelations have obviously died with the man, so we will never truly know from the original source.

Whether the song is truly about her or not it's still really interesting to hear from a person that knew him during the early days. 😎

I agree that stories about young Prince and the Minneapolis scene are almost always interesting, but without the "Little Red Corvette" hook, hers would be just another book.

BTW: I listened to the entire interview and I'm still not convinced. She came across as arrogant, with some visions of grandeur. Don't get me wrong. I believe that she knew young Prince, but I'm just not convinced that she inspired "Little Red Corvette," not that my opinion matters in the grand scheme of things. Having said that, I think her book will probably be a bestseller because Prince fams are so hungry for information about him that they are willing to fork out the cost of a book with unverifiable details, with a bit of factual information thrown in for good measure.

--She claims she has verifiable details and she is from his hometown. Also remember she is a journalist so it seems she has taken her time to do her due diligence and put sonetime in on this project. I think it will interesting because sometimes the fans forget Orince had a whole different life before he was famous and came from a very active a vibrant music scene.

She is actually from St. Paul. And, I understand that she is a journalist and will probably have a well-written book. I'm just not convinced that LRC is about her. There is NO WAY she can verify that, especially since Prince has said it was for Vanity. He even dedicated LRC to Denise in his emotional performance after learning of her passing.

She also said that Prince knew that she was planning to write a book and he instructed everyone around him not to talk to her. She laughingly attributed this to the fact that she had not signed a non-disclosure agreement with him, but I'm not sure that's the only reason. Of course, she made no mention of whether or not she was pursuing her "Little Red Corvette" angle at that time.

He dedicated the song to Vanity. Did he actually say the song was about Vainty. I watched a bit of the Austrailian show and he say that the Beautiful Ones was about Vainty at that show and in the Rolling Stone article.

She also claims to have interviewed Vanity so we will get a chance to see what Vanity had to say about it.

Also why is Prince yelling "mayday "in the extended versions. Remember he did not tell her the song was about her he told T.C.

"Mayday" is a global call for help. That's what I mean about her having some visions of grandeur. Also, she says that she interviewed Vanity about Prince. She says nothing about talking to Vanity about LRC, in particular. She is very crafty and careful with her words. BTW, has TC ever spoken publicly on this subject? If so, please refer me to the article/interview.

Mayday was her nickname and it does not make sense in the song to yell out mayday when he is the one talking about doing something to her " that she will never forget"

I also supsect that Prince told various women songs were about them. Like "Elixer" which he wrote for Mani and put on Bria's album.

Telling Mayte "TMBGITW" was about her and telling Carmen the same thing. Carmen even has a short note from hiim to prove it.

What do you think she spoke to Vanity about since she is writing a book about LRC? I will check out T.C 's Facebook as he has posted a few things in reference to Prince.
