Nice work. As you say, a LONG way from Prince. Sounds like you utilise granular techniques. What do you use? I was developing this granular synth in Max Msp a few years ago (ended up shelving the project though):

I don't remember the exact filters and effects used but they were mostly created inside Sound Forge, usually taking a sample and manipulating it with various effects and filters to achieve the sound I want, then usually editing and mixing those samples in ACID.
