Purple Rain (Movie Piano Version) - Sheet Music Hey all! A couple months ago I made a (short) sheet of the piano version of Purple Rain that Prince plays in the movie. Figure someone would have a use for it, so enjoy!
Here's the clip as a refresher: https://youtu.be/miGT8rd44G0?t=39s
It doesn't end properly in the film, so I just added a final bar to round it out.

Oh I didn't know someone already did one! I tried to get close as well. I was just going through my files and decided to post it. I should've proofed it again before I posted it, but oh well. I also started Arborteum a long time ago but never finished it. [Edited 6/12/17 17:10pm] "Like the drummer said, you got to die." |

your version is different, i saw you had block chords, i just used octaves in the left hand. i never wrote it down, i suck at transcription. |

Funny thing is (I think) it looks like he's playing octaves in the movie but I hear block chords. Probably just how he's miming it. (I also think it's funny that the piano sounds like an upright during Father's Song and like a grand during Purple Rain ) "Like the drummer said, you got to die." |

Thank you for this. It is such a beautiful rendition of the song. Never heard him play alone on the piano as beautiful as it sounds here. Those beautiful trills.
The scene is my favourite in the movie. He awakens after the pain and anguish of the night before and realises he is at a cross-roads in his life. Then that gorgeous synth chord begins to slowly swell as he walks down the hall to the piano (and he looks so beautiful). We hear the demo tape play.. rewind.. play... then the camera reaches him just as he begins to learn the arrangement.
Miss him so much You'll never know a girl called Nikki and you'll never find Erotic City |

i think you're right, his hands did not match the piano when i was trying to read it, however most people wouldn't notice. |

This thread is just begging for a "No, I don't have them written down. I don't have to" reference, LOL.
Nice job to both of y'all, though!
