NFO just downloads or cds too?

Are we gonna burn and sell cds? Who's puting the money up for that? I thought we were just doing this for free, giving away a track and having downloadable artwork and mp3s.

Cloud, you mentioned this would be a "big project". What does that mean? I thought we were doing this mainly for promotional purposes.

Technically, i thought it was supposed 2 b CD's. If it will b 4 sale (2 others) where would the $$ go? If it is a free CD then It will b cool cuz no one will b greedy n shit..lol.

Personally, I would H8 2 download a bunch of songs off the Net just 2 make 1 CD uh uh.

The last Jason & I spoke on this he suggested that we'd give away the downloads but charge whatever it costs if they want a CD.

By 'big project' I mean its gonna get a lot of attention. Its gonna get a lot of traffic & rank quite highly in the search engines wink. Lots of promotional exposure smile

Cool, but who is doing the burning and selling? Can we do it individually? It would be good experience for me, since I plan to do just that with my own album.

I thought we'd put up the songs for download and offer the artwork for download as well so people can make their own little package.

Well I have a company that does it for me cos after a while me & my little CD burner couldnt cope with the demand 3034 so far. I would recommend using this method but if you guys think you can keep up, be my guest

If we put all the songs up on MP3.com, on someone's account, we could put the whole thing online for sale at MP3.com, charge the bare minimum, which would result in NO royalties whatsoever, but WOULD make the CD deliverable by an independent company.

They handle shipping, billing online, printing the CD covers and inserts, everything.

And THAT is what I THOUGHT we were going to do. Trying to set this up anywhere else will cost SOMEBODY money... If JD or Cloud or SOMEBODY has a regular account on MP3.com - thumpinhard has one, I think, then he has unlimited uploads and can sell CDs.

I don't have a (paid) account with MP3.com, nothing to promote.

SO THEN, will one of the MP3.com members be willing to have all our songs posted on their site? Is there a way to have the songs available on a radio station, but NOT on their site? I don't know. Someone else will have to answer that.

We could do that but mp3.com is too expensive. CCnow who I use is much cheaper & if you sell a CD cheap, you sell more of them.

So the most important question here is...

Who is paying for this??? YOU???

I can afford to burn my own, print the labels and sell them to whoever might ask me for one. Nothing more. Don't tell me we are going to order 1000 of these cds, not knowing if anyone is going to buy one.

As I said, for a CD we'll charge our costs as Jason suggested. Okay we wont make a profit but it wont cost us anything either smile

JDODSON

Absolutely free downloads. We are given the gift freely and freely we give the gift back. All members of the project can get free CD's. As a matter of fact, I beieve that YAMOMMA should e-mail the final artwork to everyone in the NFO project so that we all can produce these CD's from our houses. Now, if you burn them at your house, it is completely up to you if you want to charge for them. Last I checked, to burn a CD at home it costs about 50 cents tops to make one. So, the profit possibilities are endless there. As far as putting together a professional labeled disc and cover, etc, that would cost a bit more money, but I personally don't care if this ever happens. I believe it will be in everyone's best interest if this remains a free download and individually created CD.

Hope that clears it up a bit.

Peace!
JD
