There's Berkely Collage of Music in Boston or the Musicians Institute in Hollywood. Two reputable ones. A town like Buffalo should have something to offer though. I lived in San Diego and I took classes at a community collage and we were working with Pro Tools, Maki, all the top stuff. I'd look locally, unless you want to get out of town, but it's gotta be cheaper than Hollywood! smile

Well, in the summer of '97 I went to the Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences in Phoenix. At the time it was something like a 4 month accelerated program and cost $6000 or so. I "graduated" at the top of the class, 4.0, and didn't feel like I'd really learned very much. I had absolutely no confidence behind the console and still don't, in fact I never pursued an engineering job.

The instructors at CORAS (might be called something different now) seemed to think their school was a lot more legitimate than Full Sail (for example), and I had no doubt they were all very capable in the studio. But as far as the instruction, I still feel cheated, quite honestly.

A friend of mine went to a school in Florida, I think it was called the "Full Sail" program/school, and it was solely for music/sound engineering...Quincy Jones and Steven Spielberg reportedly went there recruiting for projects they were doing!
