Been awhile since I did a Prince cover - and I usually try to do something far from the original, but this time, I didn't stray too far. I actually recorded the whole thing without referencing the original, just to see how far off I was, and then went back and fixed a few messes.

And yeah, I totally buried the backing vocals. DAMN them harmonies always kill me. They SOUND easy til you're doing them, and notice he threw some minor suspended note in there to make it not what you expect, and I spend the whole take trying to find that note... so what I end up with is the sound of a tone deaf person riding a bike in a tornado trying to calm themselves down by singing.

So yeah. You're welcome for not putting that in the mix.
