David Bowie has a song on his upcoming album, Blackstar, entitled 'Tis A Pity She Was A Whore' and the opening lyrics are "Man, she punched me like a dude"... and that made me think of something I wrote many years ago (too many!) after a heartbreak.

She tore me apart

A broken nose never hurt as much as this broken heart

I sang her poetry but she only kicked me to the ground

Even if I were to scream she wouldn’t hear a sound

Rejection always hits like a sucker-punch

Busted ribs never hurt as much!

I believed when she pretended to care

Stole my heart then treated me as if I were never there

If I took the elevator

She chose the stairs

The last time I saw her she didn’t say a word and that told me not to call

I don’t exist at all

She was cold-blooded

Needlessly cruel

I trusted her

I was a fool
