what kind of AMP does Prince use?

Any of you freaks know what he uses? I know all about his guitars, and the pedals, but you don't hear much about the amps... just curious.

I've seen Marshall heads and heard he uses Soldano heads

but really, I don't know shit

he ought to go to a Peavey Classic 50 like me, if he ever really wanted to get a good tone lol

Hey hey! That's one of my favorite amps! Do you have the 2-12 or the 4-10? I got the 410, because, you know, in the small clubs, you need something that just really pisses off the manager.

I can't tell you how many gigs we've had where the manager asks us to turn it down over and over.

Oh- YES I CAN! EVERY TIME! That thing is loud and honking.

I have the 2x12 and I absolutely love it. I had to take off the dumb Peavey logo off the grille, of course, and ever since it's been sheer bliss with that thing

trouble is, with my cheap Japanese telecaster with stock pickups, the feedback is HORRIBLE - I'm sure it could be fixed with different pickups or just a better guitar!

5150? Eddie's amp? how cheesy. (of COURSE I haven't really tried one of those - they could be the BOMB, the GREATEST amp on the planet, but because they're just named after Asshole Van Halen, I'm just not too jazzed to pimp the name of the dork that can't keep a singer in his band. have you seen any interviews with that jackass? keep playing and shut the hell up, Eddie).

Yeah, the Peavey logo TOTALLY affects the tone! Once you've had it removed, you sound a LOT better and look a lot cooler.

I've left mine on to keep me honest.

Try rolling the presence way back. The tele's got super-bright pickups, so when you're pushing distortion through there, it gets messy. I use a mexi-tele and man, talk about noisy. Almost sounds like I'm just using Radio Shack microphones for pickups... but I don't care - with the mexi-tele, I can tear the guitar off like Prince does in the America video - that just TOTALLY tripped me out -

1. drop the guitar,
2. sing the next line!

But ennyhow - that feedback issue - when I use my Les Paul, I get the pickup feedback issue, so it ain't related to just cheapo guitars. (well, mine ain't one of them $3000 ones, but STILL...)

I will try the Presence know - that might make perfect sense. Thanks for the tip! Honestly I hardly ever take my amp out of the basement - I'm actually the bass player so I'm not playing as much guitar these days.

but I totally feel the love with my Mexi-Tele - for $300 it's given me much joy.
