Fat fuzzy synth used on "The Walk" and other Time songs Hi.
I'm after the fat almost brassy synth that can be heard on Time songs like "The Walk".
I'm not sure if forum rules allow me to post links to vids that demonstrate the exact sound I'm talking about so I'll just direct you to be safe .Look up "Morris Day & The Time : 1999 Tour Full Set Live 1982" on youtube and skip to 43:13 as they take out "The Walk".
What synth is this? I've heard a lot of oberheim, prophet, and D-50 demos and I've never been able to find it. I've got the OB-X plugin and it doesn't seem to have the sound.
In fact, any of the OB-X, OB-Xa, OB-8 and Matrix demos I've seen don't seem to have any of the Time sounds like the abovementioned sound and the soft, smooth floaty synth sound that also was used on the 'For You' album and on some of the 94 East stuff. If they were using oberheims, what were they doing to get those sounds? All the other 80s artists that were using oberheim during that era didn't seem to have any of the Prince sounds so I'm wondering if it was actually oberheim that Prince used.
Thanks very much. | |
