I'm checking out all the threads in P-music about his side projects - Camille, NPG, etc...

Tell me - IF you had a record deal, and had only released 3 records so far, would YOU have kicked off the Time, Vanity 6, then Sheila E, and continued on that level?

I mean, yeah, yeah, P writes a TON of songs that jam, and it's wise to spread them out, etc... but MAN, WHY ON EARTH would you give some of these songs away?

and on and on and on. WHY on earth not just put them out yourself? MAN - he could have put out double albums constantly from 1980 on up, don't you think?

SO - back to my musician-related question... would YOU give your songs to other artists?

I haven't even released a CD on a major label and I already have side projects! (with Flashpoint, HWA, and a couple others)

I can see why he didn't want to release them himself. He didn't know how people would react to the music, so he wanted to remotely separate himself from it while controlling it at the same time.

Record companies also control how much music you put out, don't they? They want to make sure the public has enough time to hear it and buy it. I think that's the whole reason he released Emancipation as a 3cd set, because he was finally free to release whatever he wanted.

If I had that many songs coming out of my ears, I don't know what I would do. One thing I would do is collaborate and work on music I wouldn't normally do on my own. That's always fun.

I'd like 2 hav a girl group...they would be very dancey, ghetto, and flashy...not like TLC, not like 3LW or Blaque, but still with their qualities...no rapper though...hmmm..., but in their own fashion. And they would HAVE 2 b good singers...
