RE: Looking for some feedback on my first EP. Friday 23rd of December 2011 marked the dawning of a new direction in my career. 'Locked in the Moment' is my debut EP. After a string of attempts as a rapper & even having my own band, between 2007-2011 I've tried my best to play my purple guitar & haven't really got very far. I'm a filmmaker/writer at the university of Westminster and have a shared passion for music and film. One of my biggest influences is Prince-whom i have been a fan of since 2007 after seeing him numerous times on the 21 Nights Tour.
University has opened doors to new, innovative sounds which has inspired to pick up my guitar. After recording a string of songs which happened to be included in my first short film: 'i' (2010) i have been recording on and off, improvising seeing what works and what doesn't. 'Locked in the Moment' was one of those mistakes and has turned into a mini album. After receiving great responses from friends i decided to take a risk and release my music on an unsuspecting audience. 'Locked in the Moment' is a concept, an experiment, a selection of songs improvised by myself attempting to further my skills as a musician. The mini album evolves around a dark, reverberated soundscape which balances both inner darkness and the brightness which is trying to battle the depression. Essentially the music is confused as me. 2011 was a tough year on me emotionally and physically. Suffering heartache, loneliness, anxiety attacks and relapsing into depression. I see this project as capturing those emotions and hopefully progressing forward with my goals and dreams.
