I Can't Be Your Saviour....
As much as I love you I can't drown In your sorrow I can't hold hands With you as you go down The weight around your neck Can't become my albatross I can't carry your cross And watch you become A martyr to your own cause As righteous as it might seem At this moment in time Things change...suddenly Without reason or rhyme That's just the nature of life Passing in an unanswerable cycle Where assumptions and inevitabilities Colllide like atoms out of control Leaving us stranded, left unwhole But despite that the sun shines The rain washes clean the streets That we walk each morning When we wake up with the dawn Covering our sins with sheets Stifling our fears with a yawn You, I, and thousands to come Want to move past where we're from But, as much as I love you I can't be your sanctuary Or your saviour In the end, I'm lucky If I can save myself From going under...
