Self-indulgence wasted

Where it wasn't wanted

A tidal wave washes away

Small minded considerations

Massive floods remind us all

Of how tenuous our lives hang

In the balance ...

Between now and eternity

No celebrity follows

Cameras when the aftermath

Is encapsulated and done

No wars are won...

On the front of human need

Only dire straits tell a tale

Of promises unfulfilled

The diatribe of politicians

Who throw a band-aid blanket

On bleeding sores unrevealed

And still unhealed until this day

Next time you think

That you're the world's

Next victim

Blink twice...

And then think again.
