Small Soldier
The flames engulf her Licking bright red and blue At the foot of her bed Trapping her with their hue
She cries out in desperation Like a cornered beast Full of fear and panic Burning with sensation
She awakes in a cold sweat Amid dank and sweaty sheets Drenched with wretched wet Where nightmare meets The rude intrusion Of reality..
She blinks in the deceptive safety Of her Humpty-Dumpty lamp Crawls out of the crib She outgrew years before Walks into the cavernous dark To check the front door And all the windows To make sure They're secure
That the flickering she sees Is just a reflection Of her small sphere Of bedroom light
That the leering shadows Are just mocking illusions Of the night... A joke perpetuated By her pain and flight
She retreats Back to the haven Where she's been hurled Damming back The fires and floods Of the world
Small soldier braving Demons of the dark Armed for wars Upon which adults Refuse to embark

can u see my childhood? I liked this very much. I do believe that children can see more truth than we know....they r not blinded yet by this world. We dont fight in flesh and blood but we live in a spiritual world and war is all around us. I believe some children can b gifted to see this at times in there life. | |
