i woke up with a song.....

i woke up this morning with this in my head "He has taken me to the banquet hall and his banner over me is love". I looked it up and felt like displaying these most precious treasured beauty of words that i have ever heard by King Solomon.

Beloved

Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest

is my lover among the young men.

I delight to sit in his shade,

and his fruit is sweet to my taste.

He has taken me to the banquet hall,

and his banner over me is Love.

Strengthen me with raisins,

refresh me with apples,

for I am faint with Love.

His left arm is under my head,

and his right arm embraces me.

Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you

by the gazelles and by the doves of the

field:

Do not arouse or awaken love

until it so desires.

Listen! My Lover!

Look! Here he comes,

leaping across the mountains,

bounding over the hills.

Look! there he stands behind our wall,

gazing through the windows,

peering through the lattice.

My Lover spoke and said to me "arise my darling, my beautiful one,

and come with me. See the winter has past;

the rains are over and gone.

Flowers appear on the earth;

the season of singing has come,

the cooing of doves is heard on our land.

The fig tree forms its early fruit;

the blossoming vines spread their fragrance.

Arise, come, my darling;

my beautiful one, come with me."

SONG OF SOLOMON 2:3-13

The title in hebrew text is "Solomons Song of Songs." The phrase "Song of Songs" means the GREATEST OF SONGS!

a linked chain of lyrics depicting love in all its spontaneity and intimacy, anguish, and ecstasy, tension and contentment. The Song shares with the love poetry of many cultures its extensive use of highlty sensuous and suggestive imagery drawn from nature. In ancient Israel everything human came to expression in words: reverence,gratitude,anger,sorrow,suffering,trust,friendship,commitment,loyalty,hope,wisdom,moral outrage,repentance.

In the Song, it is Love that finds words - inspired words that disclose its exquisite charm and beauty as one of God's choicest Gifts. The voice of love in the Song.

I am not Christian, I even believe that religion is the best manipulative tool .. that separates us.

We used to need religion once upon a time – We really need Knowledge.

Religion is a piece of knowledge;

I found another part of Song of Solomon, I agree, so beautiful, From Him :

Song of Solomon 4:1-15

LOVER

All beautiful you are, my darling;
there is no flaw in you.

Come with me from Lebanon, my bride,
come with me from Lebanon.
Descend from the crest of Amana,
from the top of Senir, the summit of Hermon,
from the lions' dens
and the mountain haunts of the leopards.

You have stolen my heart, my sister, my bride;
you have stolen my heart
with one glance of your eyes,
with one jewel of your necklace.

How delightful is your love, my sister, my bride!
How much more pleasing is your love than wine,
and the fragrance of your perfume than any spice!

Your lips drop sweetness as the honeycomb, my bride;
milk and honey are under your tongue.
The fragrance of your garments is like that of Lebanon.

You are a garden locked up, my sister, my bride;
you are a spring enclosed, a sealed fountain.

Your plants are an orchard of pomegranates
with choice fruits,
with henna and nard,

nard and saffron,
calamus and cinnamon,
with every kind of incense tree,
with myrrh and aloes
and all the finest spices.

Thank u for ur honest response. In a lot of ways i dont believe in "religion" either. I believe in what God has shown me to be truth. And for me just "knowing/knowledge is not enough in this life, I HAVE to have a faith to stand on or else im left being tossed back and forth by the waves of life. .....With no rest or true peace in my soul.

The words u chose from the songs r beautiful. The whole book is a priceless treasure of amazing poetry.

she says:

By night on my bed. I sought him whom my soul loveth:

I sought him, but I found him not.

I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways

I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.

The watchmen that go about the city found me: to whom I said, Saw you him whom my soul loveth?

It was but a little that I passed from them, but I found him whom my soul loveth: I held him, and would not let him go, until I had brought him into my mother's house, and into the chamber of her that conceived me.

I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes, and by the hinds of the field, that you stir not up, nor awake my love, till he please. ~Song of Solomon 3: 1-5

~its almost too romantic to read

I was using my Holy Bibe, African American Jubilee Edition, King James Version. However, when I went to Grandfather's Bible, The Scofield Reference Bible, references get deeper ~ 4 another day.

Very very very romantic..

I spent a few hours discovering "Song of Solomon' s" breathtaking poetry, as an uncorrectable romantic, I would like to share these words, sweet mélodie from Charles Gounod :

The Absent ONE

Ô Silence of the night, whose voice alone is sweet

When I no longer hear her voice

Mysterious rays, gliding over the moss

In the shade of her woods-

Tell me if her eyes, at the hour when all sleeps

Reopen gently

And then if my beloved, when I am waking,

Remembers The Absent One.

When the moon is in heaven, bathing with its light

The great forests and the sky;

When the evening bells, tolling for prayer

Awaken so pure an echo-

Tell me if her soul, musing for an instant

Raises her voice with their song,

And if the peaceful harmony of their sounds

Remind her of The Absent One..!

^ also sooo very sweet.

she says:

Song 5: 2.

I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove my undefiled: for my head is filled with dew and my locks with the drops of the night.

*smh-awwwww

Theres just not words strong enough to express such beauty, such love as this.

These songs.....sweet melodies of the power and passion of love between the Beloved. There spiritual souls entertwined so deeply.

Since I notice that you are not a ”Charles Baudelaire’s Fleurs du Mal” sort of fella, I replaced it by some more consensual (to me) poetry - I forgot to credit Armand Sylveste ‘Notre Amour’ , Also Jean Lahor’s Chanson Triste..

Beautiful Evening

When at sunset the rivers are rose-tinted

And a warm breeze shivers across the wheat fields,

A suggestion to be happy seems to emanate from all things

And rises towards the restless heart.

A suggestion to savor the pleasure of being alive

While one is young and the evening is beautiful

For we shall go, as this wave goes:

It to the sea, we to the tomb.

MY TRUE-LOVE HATH MY HEART

My true-love hath my heart, and I have his,
By just exchange one for another given:
I hold his dear and mine he cannot miss,
There never was a better bargain driven:
My true-love hath my heart, and I have his.

His heart in me keeps him and me in one,
My heart in him his thoughts and senses guide:
He loves my heart, For once it was his own,
I cherish his because in me it bides:
My true-love hath my heart, and I have his.

Song of Solomon

7:10-12

I am my beloved's

and his desire is toward me.

Come, my beloved,

let us go forth into the field;

let us lodge in the villages.

Let us get up early to the vineyards;

let us see if the vine flourish,

whether the tender grape appear,

and the pomegranates bud forth:

there will I give thee my loves.

its a gospel song adaptation of Psalms 42:1

As the heart panteth after the water brooks,

so panteth my soul after thee, o God.

My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God:

when shall I come and appear for God?

My tears have been my meat day and night,

while they continually say unto me,

Where is thy god?

~its really quite a lovely sentiment.

SOLOMONS SONG 5:5-8

I arose up to open to my beloved and my hands dropped with myrrh, and my fingers with sweet smelling myrrh, upon the handles of the lock.
I opened to my beloved but my beloved had withdrawn himself, and was gone: my soul failed when he spake: I sought him, but he gave me no answer.
The watchmen that went about the city found me, they smote me, they wounded me; the keepers of the walls took away my veil from me.
I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, if ye find my beloved, tell him that I am sick with love.

7,6-7

Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.

Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it. heart
