ANDROGYNINE here is the first scene of the 3 in rough draft....

Int. - living room - night

SAM is in his mid 50's. His face is pale and dry with many cracks that run deep into the surface of it, like the landscape of a dry barron desert. His eys are piercing blue, that are cold and stark. His hair is shoulder lenght dirty blonde with large curls. He is dressed in tight blue jeans from the 80's that ride high up on his waist, with holes at the knees. His shirt is a dark plaid shirt that is button almost to the top.

Sam is sitting in a chair in the corner of the living room. He is looking around the room with a dis-satisfied look on his face. He studies the lamp on the round wooden table next to him. It's an old 60's style lamp with a green glass bulb, covered in a layer of dust, at the bottom of it with a brass bar that shoots out of the top of it and is covered on top with a torn lamp shade.

Sam blows wind on the bulb and the dust particles schatter about within the air. Sam sneezes.

Sam

shit

Sam, angerly, continues to look around the room. It is a pig pen. There is a broken glass coffee table right in front of him. There are both large piece of broken glass as well as small shattered pieces. At his foot is a tipped over dirty cup with pens and pencils coming out of it and around it. There is a torn black velvet picture of Elvis Presley on the wall that hangs diagnally on the wall opposite of him. Two or three day old food on plates in the corner of the room to his left that are perfectly stacked as if they were in a kitchen shelf. There is a pile of dog poop by the door that leads outside to the back yard. There is empty beer cans scattered around the floor of the room. Turned over potted plants and a t.v. with the screen broken out. Lying next to it is a baseball bat. Across from him on the other side of the broken table is a large couch. With the back side covered drapped over by a large knited quilt.

Sam leans over in the chair a grabs ahold of one of the broken table legs and inspects it. He notices 3 nails patruding from the side of one end. He holds it in his right hand with a tight grip so tight that the color of his fingers go pale white as the blood is squeezed out of his fingers into his wrist. He loosen his grip and places the leg on the floor and slides it underneath the chair drappings just enough to hide it but close enough to reach it quickly.

Sam sits back in his chair and reaches into his shirt pocket and pulls out a pack of GPC full flavored cigarettes.

In walks JAMES. James is a tall and lanky dude. He is 19 years old. His skin is olive colored and his hair is a sun bleached blonde, short in the back, long in the front, just enough to cover his forehead. His eyes are blueish green, with the whites of them red. He has been crying. He is dressed in skin tight black jeans and he is not wearing a shirt and he is bear foot.

James doesn't say anything as he walks over to Sam and hands him a tall glass, filled with water and ice cubes.

Sam takes the glass from James and sets it on the round wooden table. Sam then opens up the pack of GPC. The box is half full of cigarettes and a small plastic bag. He takes one of the cigarettes out of the box and places the wrong side in his mouth as James walks over to the couch and sits.

Sam

(with a stern voice yet calm voice)

I need a light

James looks up and searches the broken coffee table for a book of matches. He spots one and then points to it.

Sam shoots a mean look over to James.

James gets up and grabs the book of matches. Opens it up and pulls one of the matches from it. James then strikes the match and as the flames grows larger James reaches over to Sam's cigarette and places the flame to it.

Sam takes a long pull on the cigarette, pulling the flame into it and ignites the cigarette. He holds in the smoke as James waves out the flame.

sam

(eyeing James the whole time, smiling)

thank you

James, noticing the small plastic bag in the GPC box, moves back to the couch and sits down burryies his face into his hands.

Sam reaches back into the box, pulls out the small plastic bag and flicks it with his fingers, knocking the contants to one corner of the bag. The bag contains white crystals. Sam then reaches for one of the larger pieces of broken coffee table glass. He sets it down on the table next to him and then places the small plastic bag on top of it. He then reaches into his pocket and pulls out a red bic lighter. He looks over at James.

sam

(as he smashes the crystals with the lighter)

Sam then places the lighter next to the glass which now has a pile of white powder on it.

You hungry?

James takes a long look at the pile of white powder on the glass.

james

no.

Sam

(interrupting James)

I think you are.

Sam then reaches over and grabs the wallet off the table and pulls out a card. It reads Riverside County Library Card. With the name Lee Smith on it. Sam begins to cut out lines with the card.

oh yeah, i think you are.

James looks Sam in the eyes as if he were saying to Sam please don't make me do this. Sam definately holds his stare with James.

James looks away.

Sam reaches down by his feet and grabs the broken table leg he place there. As he is pulling it out, one of the nails gets snagged on the chair drapping. Sam tuggs at it and it rips the material.

As the material rips James looks over at Sam and notices what he has.

Sam is holding the table leg in his left hand looking at it intensly. He then sits it in his lap. Sam then reaches for one of the pens on the floor next to his feet. It's an empty white cylinder, where the ink had been removed. He looks at it. Smiles. then reaches for the piece of glass with the white powder on it. He shoots James a look.

James looks over at the piece of glass and then at Sam.

Sam grabs the piece of glass and with the empty cylinder leans forward and reaches them over to James.

James

(looking away)

I don't want it.

Sam

(very angery but not raising his voice)

this ain't about what you want.

James gets up from the couch and goes over to Sam and takes both the glass and the cylinder from him. James then goes back and sits on couch and sets the glass on his knees. James then looks at Sam.

SAM

looking back at James with an unbroken stare.

(smiling and frightening)

go on now.... do it.

James is scared. James hesitates for a moment looks around the room and then gives in and bows down to the glass and the lines on it. He places the cylinder up to his left nostril and exhales. He then inhales one entire line. His nose burns as the white powder shoots to the back of his throat. James begins to gag.

Sam sits back in his chair and begins to fondling with the broken table leg. Touching the tip of the nail he looks over at James. He then begins to slap the end of the table leg into the palm of his hand, with the nails facing upwards.

James

(nervously)

what are you going to do with that?

SAM

you don't think i know what's going on, do you?

James doesn't answer.

SAM

I saw Marie....

Sam stops slapping the table leg against the palm of his hand. He looks around the room as his eyes grow colder and angryer.

and from the looks of this shit hole i can see she's lucky she only has a black eye.

James is frighten by the violence he sees building up within Sams eyes. James goes to set the glass on the couch next to him.

james

(shaklying)

what do you mean black eye?

Sam looks at the glass, seeing the remaining line of white powder on. He then looks at James.

SAM

(calmly)

not anh....

Sam swings the table leg down and smashes the largest piece of glass remaining from the coffee table.

James quickly turns away to avoid the flying shattered glass from getting in his eyes.

SAM

Finish it

James releasing the severity of the cituation lifts the cylinder and the glass, with line of white powder, to his nose and inhales the entirey of the second line. James pinches his nose as he sits back on the couch. He feels himself go numb. He looks up at the ceiling.

SAM

growing up i never had any friends like you. Lee and Marie don't know how lucky they are... They are just a couple of fuck ups who will never amount to anything. What you see in them is beyond me.

James looks at Sam.

SAM

I see how you are with Lee and I see how he is with you and hey it's cool....

James sits up confused by what Sam is saying.

SAM

(quietly)

its obvious... quite obvious that you love each other... let me rephrase that... Your in love with him.

James grows uneasy at Sams observation, but he can't move because this is the first time anyone has ever confronted him with his feelings towards Lee. James is paralized by the truth and Sam knows it.

SAM

(growing louder and angry)

The only problem is... Lee is married to my daughter!

Sam sits back in his chair, clenching the table leg tighter until you can see the whites in his knuckles.

(screaming)

what am i going to do about my daughter's black eye!

James trembles as Sam asks this question of him.

Sam holds the table leg up, looking at the nails, then looking at James.

SAM

(again calmly)

an eye for an eye, huh... what do you think?

James doesn't say a word.

SAM

the thing is Lee is nowhere to be found, do you know were he is?

James

(hesitating)

no. I just got home from work, I haven't seen either of them since yesterday.

Sam

yeah i kinda figured so. All of ya'll live under one roof yet no one knows what the fuck is going on.... hmmmm. You sure do have some beautiful eyes..

James starts to get up from the couch

SAM

sit your ass back down!

tossing the broken table leg with his right hand onto the floor, Sam sits up again and reaches around his back and pulls out a silver and black compact semi-automatic Smith & Wesson .45 caliber pistol with his left hand.

it's loaded... hollow point bullets. You know, the kind that explode on impact.

Sam's eyes intensly examines the guns then looks over at James.

James

(calmly)

go ahead man... shoot me.

Sam lauphs, sitting back in his chair.

SAM

(seriously)

Oh no man that's not what i have in mind, i am going to wait for that son of a bitch to come back and as soon as he walks through that front door i am going to blow his fucking brains out... He won't even know what hit him.


As James sits back down on the couch, not taking his eyes off of the gun, Sam put the gun down on the round wooden table and then looks over at James

James

(quietly)

Marie is pregnant.

SAM

pausing for a moment.

(not moved at all)

well that doesn't surprise me. They fuck like rabbits. hmmmmm.... What do you see in that mother fucker?

James looks away.

Sam

well hey that's cool. I didn't have no god damn daddy.

James leans forward in his chair, looking at Sam, and begins to plead with him.

James

Sam you can't do this man. Marie's eye.... that, that was an acident.. Lee didn't do it on purpose... he tossed the keys and they hit her in the eye.. that's what happen, i swear.

Sam realizes that James would do anything to keep him from killing Lee. He looks at James with a mean angry look.

James

please man... you don't have to do this... think about it. You'll go to jail, Marie will be left alone with the baby.

Sam

and you?

James

(confused)

what about me? This has nothing to do with me

Sam wipes his hands across his beard as he thinks for a moment. Then suddenly his face lightens up.

SAM

oh yes it does.. it is so fucking obvious that you would say anything to keep me from has from pumping his ass full of led.

James

I don't want him to die, no.

SAM

(angerly)

you would do anything to save his pathic life... wouldn't you?

James remains silent and looks away from Sam. His eyes begin to fill up with tears.

SAM

I know what you can do

James still silent looks, from the corner of his eyes,
back over at Sam as he grabs the gun from the table.

SAM

you can come over here and suck my cock..... that's what you can do.

James closes his eyes as the tears begin to run down the side of his face.

James

(very quietly)

SAM

James is stretched out in the bathtub, the faucet is gushing. He is completely submerged underwater. The splashing water is creating mountains of soap suds. James slieds up just above the surface of the water and takes a deep breath. The mist is rising off the top of the water. James lifts his foot and turns the water off. James relaxes.

(singing)

The bathroom door flies open.
James is startled.

The phone rings.

Marie leaves the room closing the door behind her.

Lee gets up and goes over to the door and listens. He can her Marie on the phone in another room.

Lee returns to the side of the tub and sits.

INT. class room - several years later
James is sittin in class stiring a cup of coffee in a circular motion. A beautiful girl sits next to him looking through her bag. The professor is giving a lecture on how to use 3 props to connect scenes.

hey james do you have a pencil i can borrow.
James
uhhmmm yeah. hold on.
james reaches into his bag and pulls out a pencil and gives it to the christine.
cut to professor.

Now class mark this down in your notes. your scripts are to be constructed like bonzi plants. what i want you to do for this next project is give me all the details i need in a scene. I want you to trim down all the unnessary information out of it. Like trimming a bonzi plant. Just give me the core of information in the story that your telling me through the charactors.

Class your in for a treat. In this magic back of tricks i have 3 elements that will connect your scenes together.
the professor goes and gets his back pack and pulls out the three props one by one.

The first of these props is this... Dress.
the professor holds up a pretty little summer dress.

now this doesn't mean that your story has to take place in the summer but what i want you to do is use this prop to connect the first scene to the scene.
there is a bit of an interrupption in the class as one of the pupils makes a joke.
professor
ok. ok. calm down... now the for next scene i want you to connect scene 2 to scene 3 with....
the professor pulls out a tire iron.
professor
be creative.... tell me how the charactors goes from scene one to scene 2 with the dress and then connect scene 2 with scene 3 with this tire iron....

Sam takes his hands off of james head and stretches out setting the gun on the table.

sam puts his hands back on James head and forces james back down on him.

James faling his hands finds the gun. grabs it, unknownly to sam.
Just as Sam arches his head back and lets out a loud moan, James puts the gun to Sams head.
JAMES
oh yes he can.
James pulls the trigger. There is a loud bang. James drops the gun and slowly gets up. His face is covered in blood, flesh, and semen. He doesn't notice. He is in shock. He finds his way to the bathroom (off camera), there is a long pause.
James
(screaming)

it was very hard connecting these three scenes ANDROGYNINE... CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT ARE THE ELEMENTS THAT CONNECT THE SCENES?
