recording studio

hi, im a musician and im wanting to put in a PROFESSIONAL QUALITY studio in my home,

im starting from "skratch" and need to know what all equiptment i need,

also, synthesizers, im really a big fan of vintage synthiszers, ones like mini moog, oberheim 4 voice, roland d-50, prophet 5, emu emulator, and roland jupiter six, also the arturia origin,

i make music that sounds sort of like a prince/michael jackson vibe, ya know? so im very confused on what synths i need,

also what is a vocorder? lol.

and this is off topic, well not really, for vocals, what type of "machine" makes the human nature/ and the "ohhhh ahhhhh" sound in the song scream, (by michael jackson)

please helppp!!!!

I would recommend you go over to Harmony Central - http://acapella.harmony-central.com/ and scan down and click on Recording Forum. Those peopel can help you a lot, I always recommend the Harmony Central Forums and people don't appear to follow through.

At our place the studio consists of a laptop and a whole bunch of software (all the synth sounds etc)

We got a little midi keyboard controller.

It's cheap and portable nod

That stuff sounds great! But you left out mics... I hear vocals... and guitars and amps... or are they plugged directly into virtual pedals and amps?

vocals go straight to the hard disc via this thing for the most part and effects added with software

guitars played through amp with effects pedals, recorded with mic also through the onyx nod

So I tell a lie lol laptop, usb keyboard, and Mackie Onyx

Will you be a spy and reveal the plug ins and effects used on the keys and vocals in the software? And what about sequencing the percussion?

I could ask for you for sure, I know the master has downloaded every frikking thing he has ever heard of lol Being a drummer first, he uses EzyDrummer or something and even though fills are provided, he sometimes does his own.

Within Cubase there are EQs, reverb and stuff that can be applied to each track like on the vocals.

I can find out which synth packs he has though.

He comes back home from the Tanami Desert on Wednesday of next week, with his laptop nod
