Congrats on the gift!! I was really thinking about getting one of these - is there anything you can tell me about it? • How authentic is it? • Have you played it? How does it sound? • I've heard that the paint cracks around the neck when it's played. Is that true? • Was it shipped safely? • Overall, what's your rating on this? • AND - what color did you get? |

Ehh - I dunno - even IF it plays awesome, looks/feels etc, it's STILL prince's guitar... no different than if you got up onstage at a gig with white makeup and a star painted over your eye, like Paul Stanley... you're wearing your influence WAY too out there. For home use? Sure. And yeah, I've seen the guy from Sugar Ray play one in a video, almost I think as a smug tip-o-the-hat to Prince... but, a replica of a VERY UNUSUAL guitar - how embarassed do you feel when you get up at a gig to play? edit: then again, I'm sure folks thought the same thing about the Stratocaster and Buddy Holly. i once saw a guy perform here on a belgian TV-show .. the band sucks, the music they make sucks, and he was playing an ORANGE .. yup, you read it correctly, an ORANGE cloud guitar. i have a blue NPGMC cloud guitar here at home, and somehow the guitar this guy was playing, besides being butt ugly, seemed like a replica not made by schecter .. something felt wrong, i guess the head was too big or something ..
anyway, if you plan on buying the cloud, go for it .. i just love it and it sounds great .. i also have a mexican strat and a Les Paul Studio, but right now the cloud is my favourite .. if only i could get my hands on a Hohner Tele Prinz and a Symbol Guitar .. rrr ... make my day  [This message was edited Mon Feb 10 14:44:12 PST 2003 by DJLeFreak] -- love 4 one another is the only way --
