ONE MOMENT...ALONE
Mesmerized
Thoughts of you
That linger on
When the hunger
Is long gone
Tantalized
By memories
Your touch
Your scent
When dreams
Have long
Been spent
Captured not
By reason or rhyme
For our singular
Moment in time
When I clung to you
You clung to me
Like two scared monkeys
In a sacred tree
Languishing
In anguish
Together
Picking forbidden fruit
From the Tree of Knowledge
Understanding
It was only for a moment
And then…
Vanished away
Like it never existed.
The sweetest fruit is plucked
Too early from the vine
The bitter truth is hidden
In the finest wine
The taste and temptation
Linger in the years
Past truth and tribulation
Past out-dated tears
The salt when I bite my lip
Corrupts me
Seals me
Cannot heal me
From my own
Inner demise…
When I think of you
I love and despise
The truth I can’t condone
I’m still yours
I’m still yours
I’m still yours
But only for one moment…
Alone.
