ONCE THERE WAS A...
Once there was a blind Organ grind-er With a monkey Who danced And made me laugh For a penny a prance
In a Charming City By the Sea Just he and me And his monkey… Riding free
Made me grin Made me laugh Made me want to saw His monkey In half
His organ grew rusty The tune was old Crowds no longer gathered When his name was told
The City grew restless The Sea overflowed Drowned out the song The grinder had sold
And the Monkey leaped With his toothless grin On his Master’s back Where he did begin
To ride him like a whore in heat Dance him to the Devil’s beat I shocked the Monkey With jumper cables But he wouldn’t die He was a moment shy Of hearing the next tune…
So the organ grind-er Still remains blind In the City by the Sea Feeling out his way Trumped by the Street Fooled by sweet sensation Relentless attack Of the cold-hearted Monkey Who still rides his back…
