point taken. thanks for the feedback. i got you. 2 be honest, when I made that track, i sat down at my equipment with the intentions of just fooling around, I wasn't working on something for a specific purpose or artist - just for fun. So it kinda grew from there after I went though my personal libraries of drum loops.

Had I been contracted to do a certain or specific track, I usually program the drums myself, I prefer that sound in most cases, and freedom it gives me.

Still though, I would argue that if a drum loop is used (which is done lots in modern hip hop/rnb/electronica), and the composer/producer plays all instruments on top of the loop, i.e. keys, guitars, bass, synths, etc - I dont think it's misleading anyone saying he played "all the instruments on the track". tons of royalty free drum loops are available and out there for producers. as far as legalities and how it would be listed on a record in liner notes, thats a different story. oh..and I did program some claps/percussion from the LM-1 on that track as well on top of the loop. in this case with this track, I want folks to know where that drum came from, I wanted it 2 b obvious...the vibe of the song is undeniably that early 80s Prince funk vibe, if i could help lead the younger generation who knows little about Prince to look up those earlier records, and continue his legacy to the newer generation, im happy.

I realized last year that I wrote one song, and it has the same basic cord pattern as "Little Red Corvette", but is in a different key I believe. Oddly, I wrote it about a guy I knew who I was quite interested in. He has a reference to Batman in his online user names because he's a big Comic book fan, namely Batman. I used a line, "I love purple, I love bats - you're giving me a heart attack", as a reference to him (although the whole song is straight out based on sexy conversations we've had in the past). I found it ironic that a sexual song about a friend who likes Batman, is similar to "Little Red Corvette", as Prince did the Batman soundtrack too. Just a fun bit of serendipity there. My song is more of a harder rock song though. I actually drew some BDSM inspiration for it from "Automatic", just them thematic elements, not directly lifting anything from "Automatic".

Thats what Im talking about! I dont even care the drums are from DMSR I like what u did with them and the added rimshot and snare. The synths are nice and crispy too. U just are kind of dying to get some vocals on there. It screams for vocals. Let Jason twerk with this.

My only suggestion would have been to change up the drums to not sound so close to DMSR. Put them somewhere else so that it would not sound like a DIRECT loop.
