Coming Back from Green Fest

I don't know you...
But I saw your broken face
Laid out on the sidewalk
As I danced, twisted, and
turned to read
The chalk-written poetry
laid out in clever
revelations
Over the mindless blocks
That people tread upon...

To remind me why
I moved here
Why I continue to
believe that
People still care...

While dancing on the sidewalk
I picked up
The discarded remains you left
And tried to return return them

Your so-called friends
Called me "Po-po"
And hung up
Leaving me wondering
What your friends
Really are...
Or if you have
Any at all.

Here, is your life, Jess.
I don't know you
But I want to return
What I can...

I hope you escape
The broken face
That cracked revelation
Who gazes back at me...

Come get your life...
It reminds me too much
Of what could have been.

Come back to your life, Jess...
Before it's too late.
