please recommend me a recording program

please recommend me a recording program

What's value for money and very easy to use?

I've written far too many songs and I have to get them into mp3 format or they may disappear forever.

Can anyone help me out here?

Thanks to all who've left there suggestions.

working on pc
I'm recording my own material from live instruments.

I've started using a freeeware program called Audacity with non-too-very satisfying results. So I'm still looking for a better program.

Haha, I wouldn't recommend Audacity to anyone, but it's what I use for all my tracks, I love how crappy it is.I've grown so used to using it I can't imagine using another program.
