The Beat In Sheila E.'s Parody Video What exactly is going on here?
I tried to replicate it using a free basic drum sequencer and some LM-1 samples, but it's definitely missing something. I know that there's a low snare and low kick drum playing at the same time, with a higher-pitched snare alone accenting. There's a cabasa throughout. I think there's something underneath the claps too - they don't sound the same on their own. There's also closed hats which don't sound like any of the hats in my collection of LM-1 samples.

I'm considering it.. (just to listen to it again without watching Sheila or Youtube.com..) Whether I have the time to do it, is another question. I've gotten better a semi-replicating, but it's much easier for me to create something new that just sounds like a new production. Then..If I share it, and it's copyrighted... That is a entirely different issue, but a serious one. I've posted a snippet of a "1999-ish" knock-off LM-1 beat (purposely without the "clap" sound" in another thread. _____ YHWH is Elohim and Yahoshua is King [Edited 1/27/10 12:21pm]

I think that "reverb " may be an issue for you.. The claps sound like my first linn sampler..lolol. They don't have that same smack.. So, I would have to go back to my initial beats to find a weak "clap" sound (before I knew what I was doing).. YHWH is Elohim and Yahoshua is King

The free drum sequencer I used, is here: http://www.brambos.com/tu2.html It won't let you save drum patterns unless you pay and register, but it's still pretty much fully-functional. You can export to WAV files and stuff like that. [Edited 1/29/10 23:49pm]

Here's the LM-1 samples I've been using... http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0VX8W8ND p.s. I reluctantly switched to The Tuna software and other software... Now, It's no comparison for me. Ther is a reason why Bram Bros. have not created any new software for 6 years...(to my knowledge). You can also import the wav.s to a sampler.. The closer you can get to the way he creates beats is with his fingers and a BD pedal.. [Edited 1/27/10 20:49pm]
