Hey everyone
Ive been visiting these boards a lot and only just decided to join.
Id like to refer you all to a young musician from Australia, named Darren Hart

He's starting a solo music career and has been dubbed by many as a "modern day Prince".

"I am a MASSIVE Prince fan, and although i know im unworthy, im very honored to receive such compliments." -Darren Hart

I want all you Prince fans to check out his music!

and no, He's not just some amateur kid. His music is of very good quality.

Everything you hear is:
Produced, Arranged, Composed and Performed by Darren Hart. wink

Thanks everyone!

Called that by whom?

I'm sorry, but from that selection, I just don't hear it - far too limited a range in voice, style and musicianship - seems to me just because its "produced, arranged, composed and performed" by him, then he's somehow "the new prince"?! eek

He has got a way to go before that statement has any truth to it. Not bad though, I'll give him that.
...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

haha
thats cool

thanks for the feedback!
The music industry is all a marketing act these days, so for people to compare him to Prince is purely for hype and publicity purposes. For your information i work with him and your right, the "modern day Prince" tag is probably purely because of the "produced, arranged, composed and performed" part of his music. Because i seriously doubt anyone in mainstream music today is able to say they do this.

I just wanted to get actual Prince fans feedback on this.

He's close to scoring a major label deal soon.
Hopfully with Warner haha razz

Thanks to everyone for the compliments in emails!
I will pass on everyones feedback.

Its all good and I wish him well and every success - as a producer (composer, arranger and performer!) myself, I know how it is wink

And to re-iterate, it wasn't that I didn't like his work, I just find the "moder-day Prince" moniker to be hyperbole....but hell, yeah, if anyone has said that, use it do death in any marketing spiel.....anything that helps get you noticed!
