Where should I begin to learn music? I'm tired of being the average layperson and listening to music based on the "feel good" aspect or lyrics, I want to be able to grasp the depth & intricacies of music. Sure I can probably spot a chord change if I listen closely but I wan tto be able to understand which chord is which and chord progression inuitively. I go to college and have been pondering going to music theory class but idk If i'll succeed because it's such a hard class. Also I want to play an instrument but idk which one I'd like the most. What should I play? Did Prince ever deny he had sex with his sister? I believe not. So there U have it..

The voice is the best instrument on the planet, I'd start with some choir and see how you like it. Music theory is like a math class, necessary but it may take a few classes to get the understanding you speak of.
If you can pick-up a guitar and start teaching yourself your favorite songs, maybe that will keep the inspiration and give you depth. I'd say do it all but it doesn't happen overnight. It's hard to say because people are all so very different. This is just my | |
