Musicians: Recording Programme help needed!

I want to buy a computer-based DAW and have been looking around for a couple of days now. I have been told that stand-alones seem to die off, because of soft- and hardware problems and their rather high prices.

This grabbed my attention today:

http://www.emu.com/produc...duct=15185

EMU 0404 USB

I don't need more than the stereo-sound of two tracks, because I am a one-man band and I record drums almost solely on the Keyboards, 'cause I dig the rather cold, quirky and minimalstic drum-sound, compared to the the now-so-popular, indy-style, overworked busy live-drums. For other keyboard-, guitar-, vocal- and bass-tracks (although I often tend to use electronic bass sounds, too) the two-track system is enough anyway.

What do you think about that product?

My laptop is not the most powerful of all times - what is required for the programmes that come with the EMU capacity, performance and power-wise?

Thank you.

No idea what you're talking about but it seems you have a firm grasp.

Try this question in the Artist Community section...

On behalf of the General Discussion folks, you don't need software--you need Jesus.

However, if you post in the Artist Community section you may get a different response. hug

I was thinking about where to post that, but I thought that the Artist-people were the ones who only need Jesus and shit lol

Thanks for your help, anyway.

EMU is one of the better products around for USB interface of analog sound to digital sound. Having the MIDI bundled in the device is a PLUS+++ The software is pretty decent software...I have some of the titles myself. I run on a Desktop Dual Core 2 gigs ram / 1 terabyte drive, Vista. I belive with the software you can get by with a Pentium 4 with a gig of RAM, but I would recomend a least a DUAL CORE with 2 GIGS of RAM.

Hope this helps you out.
