You Can...... You can throw 1,000 daggers into my soul,
but you can never destroy me, as I will still rise You can insult me with your harsh words, but you are the one with the broken soul You can point your fingers at me, and scoff at my courage, but I bet you cry a river of tears You can call me a liar and paint a false image of me, but I will still tell you the truth, without any fear You can be angry at me and call me names, because I make you "think" about the realities of life And despite all that, my soul is filled with love and peace, and my spirit is free, because you can never, ever stop me, from being "ME." The inspiration came from a number of things; experiences with people that I've come across, and specific personalities that are not hard to identify. They're usually miserable and insecure people, and find pleasure in demeaning others they feel threatened by, so they will put others down or project negative remarks towards them, because it is a form of self-gratification for them, and a way of covering up their own fears, insecurities and jealousy. I'm sure there are many who know individuals like that, but if you're a confident individual, and don't feel threatened by the blessings and successes of others, then you would never be that way towards others nor would you allow one's insecurities to take anything away from you. I once read the quote "Be in the world but not of it" I tried to figure that out for so long!!! I only recently understood what it really meant. Only then did I not allow others to influence me or my life. Love & Joy....D

Your poetry definitely carries a theme.
It makes me sad to think they come from experience.. You have a way of flipping the coin and helping to uplift others. It's a joy reading your work. my phone is heavy
