Baby Shai (Song for my Daughter)

Earlier this week my 4 year old daughter asked me to make a song for her. A couple of nights tinkering around and this is what I made for her.

She digs it a lot. Has it on repeat in the morning. I think her mother is about sick of it now.

Hi Yamomma! wave

Hey Hey! Was looking for some new inspiration. Funny how that inspiration kissed me every morning on my way to work. She's so cool. I'll have to video tape her dancing to this tune.

Been watching a lot of Bollywood movies this past year. It never fails, no matter how serious the film, they JUST HAVE TO break out into song at some point in the film. I had that in mind with this song. Me picking the daughter up from school next year when she starts kindergarden and her and I having "The Bestest Day Ever" kinda thing.

Highly recommend "Slumdog Millionaire" to everyone. Of course on that one they saved the song and dance routine for the very end. Couldn't see it anywhere else in the film.

Needless to say, my 6 year old son wants his song now. I asked him to start writing the lyrics and he did. By the end of the day! I was a little taken back when I read them. It was a pretty shocking tale of him coming home from school and his entire home and family is wiped out by a tornado. Not to stifle his creativity, I said we'd make a blues number out of it.

So ... I bought him a pack of filterless camels to start working on getting that grit in his voice. (kidding on that last part of course ... Marlboro ultra lights will do ... NOT!)

Hey K! Good to hear from you!

I like the tune! You should make songs like these for kids films or shows! This is much better than The Wiggles!

Alright, Kelly! I like it a lot. In fact I was just thinking about doing a "kid friendly" song since my son likes the Imagination Movers.

In fact, you can hear his voice at the beginning of my last song, "Attitude."

Good to hear from you in here! (and nice haircut)

Thanks Guys!

Good to see you guys are still around!
I check in now and then but the office I'm in most hours of the day block most of the popular sites like soundclick, youtube, myspace, facebook, etc... so I rarely get the chance to hear anyones work unless they post it off their personal site.

Then again, I guess I'm more productive, right? Meh ... I miss getting that mental break at least once a day from this sort of stuff.

Making friends in IT hasn't gotten me the golden ticket through the firewall yet but I'm still working on it. Pretty tight ship.

Try OperaTor. Seriously. I used this one at my last job, and it beat every web blocker that the company had.

Thanks!

The best part, after a couple of weeks of her listening ... I can start singing the song and she'll finish it. She has all the words of this song memorized now along with the rest of her nursery rhymes.
