I'm not a singer, but I help promote my friend, Chaeya. One day I'll get her to come on this site, but she's been hard at work on her second CD.

Some advice on getting started is 1) map out your genre and research what you're options are. The best way to do this is find music publications in your area. For instance The Music Connection is here in Los Angeles and you can go to their website www.musicconnection.com and search their classified ads to advertise and/or seek some producers to work with. There are always someone looking for singers. Just be careful who you're working with and get a signed agreement or if they want you to sign something, get a lawyer to look at it. Another good publication is "Performer." The best would be to go to your local music (sells instrument) and look for free magazines or anything promoting local and independent musicians. You can also post your name and number there seeking someone to collaborate with.

Read as much on the industry as you can. Articles, books, there are websites, if you're interested I can post some resources for you.

If you're a singer only, try to take a music class like theory or take up an instrument like guitar or piano. Try composing your own songs or at least writing lyrics. Musicians (not all of them) can be pretty arrogant. If you walk in like you know what you're talking about or have an idea for a song with lyrics, you have a better chance of getting them to want to work with you, and it's just good to know anyway because if you can't find any musicians right away, you can at least compose songs and get a cheap little 4-track and lay your ideas down and appear even more prepared once you start meeting musicians.

Once you get a demo or CD finished. Get it to as many people as you can. Do live performances and sell it there. If you can't get any musicians to back you up, have a CD made leaving the lead vocal off and you may find some gigs singing to your CD - this gets done a lot. Send your CD with a short bio to magazines that reviews indie musicians, enter as many songwriting contests as you can.

This is real short so any seasoned players out there feel free to add on to this. It's hard when you're in a small town with little resources and depending on how much music means to you, you might want to think about going to a bigger city to get started.

Sataninas

eye did always love to sing and did sing chorus for a short time in 1 or 2 bands.

Somes says I can sing and have a good voice and there in a whide spectrum, and somes says I can't sing at all.

Something's burning me inside and when eye do sing, it doesn't burn so much anymore. At the moment eye 'm in hell.
