What are some good stories u have while making a song in the studio, your basement..wherever you record..and name the song at the time...and if you have it on your site let us know.


I was recording "La Sunshine" (on my site)..and my ex came in blabbering about some mess on a phone call I had with my friend and I was ignoring him because I was trying to make the snares sound right. So he closed the door on my behind. About 10 minutes later he came back and we got into it hard. At that point I forgot what the whole damn song was supposed to be about! So I just sampled "LA Sunshine" by Sylvia and just started doing ANYTHING...blasting two different snares...cymbal crashes all over the place and put it on a cassette and turned the damn thing off and left the house!

OK, here's one...

There's a track that I did off of Divination called "Beautiful"
that was done by (I guess you could say) alternate means. Basically,
I got off from work one evening completely exhausted and had to get
at least a couple of hours of sleep before I could even think about
recording. Anyway, I fell into a deep sleep and dreamt that I was
on stage singing and playing this song. When I woke up, I went over
to the acoustic and I was completely surprised at how easy it was to
translate this tune from my dream into reality (lyrics included). So,
I took one pass with the guitar and vocals, kept it and added the rest
of the vocals & percs and there you have it....

I guess sleep deprivation does have some advantages...
