Well, I've been on it for years now. (Since 2003, and before that I was on Friendster!) Yes, it has helped in a huge way as I'm able to be in contact directly with fellow musicians and fans, but its only a small part of the picture. My CD is also on iTunes, at Amazon.com, I send CD's to press, I play shows, I'm on Facebook, I have a good "official"website (CaryAria.com) I've sent thousands of CD's to collage radio stations, toured the country...

Myspace is only a part of the big marketing picture. Overall, myspace has too much spam, too many crappy bands, too many pornbots. Facebook has a better event invite feature.

But if you want to add me:
http://www.myspace.com/caryaria

I made sure people can buy my CD's directly from my myspace page and made my layout match the look of my real website, which I think is important. By the way, SnoCap is garbage, IMHO.

MySpace has been very helpful getting people to our shows and generating a little "out-of-town" interest. I've been hearing that Reverb Nation is supposed to be really good, too, and it syncs up with MySpace and FaceBook: www.reverbnation.com

Thanks, noting everything... we're just getting started, really. Our domain name is registered, but no "reql" site up yet... what we thought we'd do for the time being is link our domain page to the myspace, so we can at least put our address on stickers, flyers and the like...

What we're looking to do is work locally (and as you'll see we're finding quite a few dates)... I should explain that our music is rather specialized and a lot of musicians we'd like to collaborate with probably live outside of our region... There's a dobro player / steel guitar amongst our myspace friends, for example, whom I'd like to meet in real life.

The other thing is, we have a lot of originals and would eventually like to expand to a wider audience... being in the South of France, our audience is mostly elsewhere. lol

Thanks for your help; we need all the advice we can get being relatively new at this online music stuff. smile

awesome, i'm hoping to meet people too, because country music is kind of new in the south of france (relatively speaking, it's been big in the north for ages so most of the musicians are up around paris)...

thumbs up!

it was good to hear you guys, by the way. i'm still listening...music

"g is for God you look great in that dress" lol Cary Aria is cracking me up.

I liked the song about Dorothy by Bylli. It's funny I like it so well because it's nothing like the music I spend all day writing. Maybe electronica will be my next trip, why not? wink

Hi, well I'm not an artist or musician really but I do use Myspace for music related things. I think I can speak on behalf of a few musicians that I know for a fact find Myspace to be a wonderful way to network, get their music out there and really connecting with their fans, etc. It is what you make of it.

It's cool; I was able to connect with some musicians in the town I'll be visiting half way across the world... and hopefully I'll be hearing them in a couple of weeks. smile

I've found that it's interesting for research purposes; seeing what's out there and listening to what other people are doing.

Yes, it can be such a great tool! It's actually brough me closer to family that I have spread out all over the states. I've even gotten work from it and I'm much more involved in my own community. Like I said, It is what you make of it." biggrin

I'm not on myspace yet. I still have a lot or reservations about it.
I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

For the undersupported UK Soul community, it has been a blessing.. so many musicians and artists have intertwined in the most amazing way - and occasionally, some have not!

Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!
