This is far too broad a question?

What kind of guitar sound do you want? What music do you play? ETC.
Maybe we can go to the movies and cry together

EmbattledWarri
or

Depends what are we talking about, pedals/ or multi processors?
If it's pedals, its the Boss DD-6 Digital delay pedal, which i own already
and if its processors i'd buy the TC Electronic FireworX Multi Effects Processor
which is like having 20 pedals at your service
but it also cost as much as 20 pedals

Assuming this means one SINGLE effect (i.e. not multi-fx boards) and also assuming I am using the gain/ distortion on my amp (cos if not then I definitely need a distortion pedal as my Number One weapon of choice!) then...

Reverb is my main effect, but since that is incorporated into the amp (usually) I will pick Delay, to thicken up and broaden a lead sound.

I'm not one for FX generally...distortion and reverb suit me, chorus is to be used very, very sparingly and..maybe a Wah but again sparingly. I don't want to Kirk Hammett-ise every lead break smile
This is not an exit
