Elaine Hendrix interview, also on my website. love M

Being on opposite ends of the globe did not stop me from wanting to do this interview with her. Stunningly beautiful, she reminded me of the glamorous era of the 40’s, this gal who was born and raised in Tennessee and Georgia has appeared on our screens for a while. From her appearances on Ellen, Days of Our Lives, Friends, Crossing Jordan, ER…she is most known for her roles in “The Parent Trap remake” and “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion”. Who doesn't love her in those?

The back-story to how I got this interview? She contacted Skylar, we ( first Elaine and I, then Elaine's publicist and I ) emailed back and forth and here it is. YAY!

9 Questions. 9 insightful answers. 100% Honest.

Here is the “months in the making” interview with Elaine Hendrix.

Q: Women In Film is something you are involved in. What is it about yourself and women in general that you find immensely powerful thus the need to bring it to the forefront?

E: The “plight” of women gaining stronger ground in the career world is nothing new; it is just something with which I like to take an active stance. More opportunities, stronger alliances, bigger pay checks, all the usual points. I am involved with other women’s groups (ex. I’m a mentor in the mentoring program for Step Up Women’s Network) and even ran one of my own groups for years (Gathering of the Goddesses.) There is definitely a certain inspiration and power that gets generated when women of like mind come together to support one another.

Co-producing, acting, writing, singing you seem to do it all as Hollywood says. How hard is it to juggle all these facets and yet remain centered centered in the soul that is Elaine?

E: Balance certainly is key for my particular lifestyle - along with multi-tasking and being able to set priorities. And gosh, gotta throw in a dash of patience and forgiveness while I’m at it. Things certainly aren’t always smooth and effortless, but I decided long ago that I happen to function better when I’m “involved” and when I’m “creative” – so it all comes form the same source, the medium is the only thing that changes.

On your website you say that you love the side of co-producing, and it makes the process extra rewarding. What is it about it that makes it so?

E: My brain is active in both hemispheres, so I’m adept at both creative and business items. For me producing is like the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, and acting is like the images on the individual pieces. I enjoy both the process of putting the pieces together as well as matching the individual images to make one whole picture. It’s stimulating. Not to mention, at this stage in my career I just have so much experience – my need keeps growing for more complicated puzzles.

The rest of it wil be in Skylar Magazine. Love M
