Check with this guy...he's the only one that I'm aware of in here
that sells his photography....although, I'm sure there must be others.

Good luck! thumbs up!

Thanks! I looked on his website, it has his domain name, so I can't tell who hosts his site.

That'd be cool, to be totally in control, set your own prices etc. but how to drive enough traffic?

I'm not doing this to make a living off it, just a place to show my photos, give the link to anyone I like, and someone who wants to buy a print to hang on their wall, can.
I'd like to do photography the regular way, by commission, and who knows, I might still submit to stock libraries as well.

I'd love to make a living from selling photographs on stock sites, but it ain't going to happen. lol I, however, am not really interested in showcasing any photographs (besides friend and family snapshots) if it's not with the intention of at least making some money, no matter how small, so I'm trying to supplement my income basically. Currently 'supplement' is a very flattering term. Think drop in the ocean. A small ocean too. So a tiny, tiny drop. Or plankton. neutral

I need work to be up as an online folio that potential clients can look at. It needs ease of use, one click view-ability etc.

Cool beans. So simple, smart, neat looking, no ads and crap all over the place, something like that?

I just realised I came across as totally money-driven, with no love for just taking nice photographs and sharing them with people, all the worse for the fact that I'm far from finding my feet again with a 'proper' camera. lol

I do like to share photographs I take with family and friends. I just want to get a little more serious this year with it. Not to be anal or trumped up, just to learn more and take better photographs and see if I can't come up with images that people might want. Decent holiday snaps will earn a dollar here or there on microstock sites, but I want to learn as much as I can and up the quality of my stuff.

I still can't get used to a DSLR though. The d40x is so simple too, like a compact camera really, yet menu screens confuse me and feel so much less intuitive than physically doing stuff with an slr. I'm currently plonking the camera on auto nearly every time. lol

It does, but everything's selected from a menu screen.

Or a simple black dial.

But there are flashing colours and numbers everywhere on the LCD.

Ok, I've no excuse. boxed

Shut up, ok? Stop making sense. Didn't your read the part about flashing colours and numbers everywhere on the LCD? Got me all confused. Actually, I just changed the settings and I like the readout a lot more now. woot!

I lost a lens cap within 4 days of getting the camera. So used to the crappy Olympus having it tethered to the camera that for the first few days when I took the cap off I'd just let go of it and it'd hit the floor. I think in a taxi I did the same thing and just didn't realise. sad Now I'll be getting a generic lens cap that's not so cool looking as the Nikon one.

I like this camera so far though. smile

How are you liking your D80? :jealous: :but: :happyforyou:

I like it a whole lot!
I discovered the LCD at the top lights up if you want it at night time.
The whole thing weighs about 2kg, I'm growing forearms like Popeye.

Cool! I don't have that LCD on the top though, of course. mad lol Also, the D40x, as you know, feels kinda piddly compared to the D80, but the plus side of that is that it really takes up no room at all. Sure, I like to put the 55-200 lens on zoom as far as possible with the bayonet hood attached for no reason, just to feel like a big man, but most of the time it's very compact. The bag I have for all my stuff is so easy to carry about, and I intend to get one that's a really snug fit for just the camera with basic kit lens attached, a spare battery and that's it. smile

yay! for Nikons
